In, Springer v. Henry, 435 F.3d 268, 271 (3d Cir. 2006), the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld a million-dollar jury award against a Delaware psychiatric for retaliating against a staff physician for exercising his First Amendment rights in criticizing patient care at the State hospital.

This decision was extraordinary in affirming a large award by a physician against a state governmental entity.
