Steven Jermy
Steven Jermy is a retired UK Royal Navy Commodore with a long and operationally intense career. Jermy frequently comments on NATO, Russia, and European security issues in interviews and publications.
He commanded warships in the Royal Navy’s 5th Destroyer Squadron and served in the Fleet Air Arm. He is a veteran of the Falklands War with additional operational service in the Adriatic during the Bosnian and Kosovo war. He served as Strategy Director at the British Embassy in Afghanistan and retired in 2007.
Jermy wrote Strategy for Action: Using Force Wisely in the 21st Century, a book examining why Western militaries struggle in modern operations and how strategy should be formed.
Jermy co‑founded Twenty Thirty Two, the not‑for‑profit company behind The Navy Campaign, which advocates for naval capability and engages with the UK Parliament, media, and defence stakeholders.
