The Super Mario series is a video game series part of the Mario franchise. It began in 1985 with the release of Super Mario Bros., credited for reviving the North American video game industry after it had crashed in 1983. Although Mario Bros. is the first series of the Mario franchise, Super Mario went on to become the primary series.
