Talk:African gray parrot

The removal of the warning about a very serious health hazard related to contacts with parrots "People can contract psittacosis, a serious bacterial infection with 1-20% mortality, by even breathing-in the invisible dust in the vicinity of any kind of a parrot." on the technical basis that it should be a separate article, was in my opinion a sad mistake, with a real potential of hurting people.

What you would do is two things about this subject. The first is go to Parrot, which is a general article on the subject, and create a subtopic briefly describing the health risks associated with pet birds. The second is to create a separate article on Psittacosis, going into detail about the disease, its origins, mortality/infection rates, treatments, etc.
The thing here I'm trying to point out is that this subject does not belong in an article about a specific bird species, unless such a disease only affects that particular bird, and no other. Karajou 12:34, 30 April 2012 (EDT)
