Talk:Arthropod
It is not possible that trilobites were wiped out by the Great Flood. For “... all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened” (Gen: 7.11) which means that salt water rose from beneath even as fresh water fell from above. Thus, since salt water is denser then fresh water, the whole world would have become much like certain bodies of water in Florida: fresh water for the first several (hundred) feet and salt water beneath that. Under such circumstances all aquatic animals would have survived the flood. A fact clearly stated in Genesis 7:21-23 which says that the extinctions due to the Flood were limited to creatures of the land and air: “And all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all human beings; everything on dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, human beings and animals and creeping things and birds of the air; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.” Thus it is not possible that trilobites died out due to the Great Flood.
Excellent point. Which would, of course, apply to all other exctinct aquatic species that have been discovered in the fossil record. But maybe God put those there to test our faith. NitramNos 09:05, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
