Talk:Characteristic
From Conservapedia
I don't like the notation n*r, without any introduction, it's rather repeated addition. Maybe a subtle point, but it is different from the multiplication of the ring. For the moment, I'll let it stay... --BRichtigen 18:26, 14 November 2008 (EST)
Characteristic of a field
I'd prefer to introduce the characteristic of a field via the example section, i.e.:
- If R is a field, i.e., a ring wiht unity wherein every non-zero element is invertible, then the characteristic is zero or a prime-number

- But field already has its own page. No need to clutter pages redefining all the concepts used. -Foxtrot 07:55, 16 November 2008 (EST)
