Are not most modern ships built out of composite material (fiberglass) and not wood with steel frames?--jpatt 13:54, 17 December 2008 (EST)
- Yes (boats anyway, I am not sure about fibreglass ships.) The term, however is a technical one, used in reference books to refer to that particular ship-type. I have been coming across it for years and whilst doing the other articles in the Category, so thought I would "do" it. In the history of shipbuilding it has its own place, and in cargo vessels (if one can call something so beautiful and exiting by such a mundane term) it is that important link between all wood and all steel.
