Actually no....Ethelred was not "Unready", he was "Unraed" meaning "poor counsel" or "evil counsel" or even "unwise" "Unready" is a comparatively modern term. Even "Unraed" does not appear until the 13th century, although it is believed to be of earlier usage. The [[Anglo-Saxon Chronicles" (where he is not particularly liked) does not mention a name...it does keep mentioning "advice" though.
- I have put Ethelred on my things-to-do list. Then, if no one screams, I will change this article to suit. One thing I will change now is the affectation, olde. There was no such word...at least not in gamol englisc. AlanE 14:36, 15 September 2008 (EDT)
