It believes in the word of Lord as in the Bible, and although in a country surrounded by blasphemy, social decay and immorality, (New Zealand) serves to protect its standing as a Christian country.

Note that the subject "it" is in the sentence once and to repeat it is bad grammar.

I'm not exactly sure why but I think years is better here. --

There's some biased information here I've removed - many would disagree the church is well-led. Even many New Zealand evangelicals see Destiny Church as a 'cult', in part as a result of a perceived emphasis on Prosperity Gospel.UlyssesNZ 20:17, 16 August 2008 (EDT)
