Handel's "The Messiah" and Mozart's Requiem are not hymns - even the arias and choruses within them are outside the abilities of the normal church congregation. I have replaced them with two of my favourites ; one for its matchless "singability, the other for its beauty and pro-life message. Guddle 16:03, 27 July 2008 (EDT)

"Liberal substitutes"

Oddly, it never struck me before that the music we play and songs we sing in church might be liberal, especially given the impact our form of worship has upon our faith. Could you provide examples of which you consider liberal? - Rod Weathers 10:52, 18 December 2008 (EST)

Certainly there are numerous hymns that exist in modern versions where, for example, the wording is altered to avoid using 'he' and 'men' to refer to all people (as is grammatically correct in traditional English).--CPalmer 18:10, 18 December 2008 (EST)
