Move to Gandalf (Middle Earth) please. --...RingWraith 17:46, 13 December 2007 (EST)

As opposed to Gandalf (What)? Leopeo 10:18, 14 December 2007 (EST)
  1. No move needed. The "(Middle Earth)" part of some titles is only for disambiguation when there's another article with a similar name.
  2. I would like the article to tell more about what Gandalf in the context of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. For obscure details, readers can look elsewhere. For example, how did he meet Bilbo and why did he pick him anyway? What sort of mentoring or protection did he give Frodo and the hobbits of The Shire? What was his relationship to Aragorn? --Ed Poor Talk 20:16, 13 August 2008 (EDT)

How to describe Middle-earth characters

Please do not start with a list of their alternate names, or their "back history" gleaned from the pages of the Silmarillion or the appendices to LOTR. Talk about what they did in the familiar works such as The Hobbit and LOTR.

For Gandalf, our readers want to know about his relationship to Bilbo and Frodo, and what he did to discover the history of Bilbo's ring, etc. --Ed Poor Talk 07:42, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
