Talk:Mann Act

Opposition?
Who is specifically opposing it, and on what basis? Please supply a reference, thanks.--DinsdaleP 12:56, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
- Are you parroting me? <giggle>
- Ginsburg wrote in her 1977 book "Sex Bias in the U.S. Code" that what she calls "the equality principle" requires repeal of the federal Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of women across state lines for immoral purposes. She wrote that this law "is offensive because of the image of women it perpetuates" of "weak women" needing protection from "bad men." [1]

- Hmm. Quoting someone who claims to be quoting someone else from an obscure 30-year-old book isn't quite the same as providing a solid source.--RossC 15:13, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
