You have a point. I hesitated for that reason. If the consensus is to remove it, I'm fine with that. But the statement is about business, not personal gossip. It adds relevancy to the Opium Wars and trade, which might otherwise be difficult to relate to.--Aschlafly 01:09, 6 March 2007 (EST)

It isn't clear to me how business or personal gossip are distinct (would we for example, feel necessary in an article about prohibition to note that now many prominent Senators and congressmen whose families made money bootlegging?). Also, I mean if it were his parents it would be one thing, but a grandparent seems to removed that it isn't even clear to me it helps people at all relate to the topic.
