What's this "rock anthem" rubbish!? AlanE (talk) 20:52, 31 March 2017 (EDT)

Fixed. Please forgive him AlanE, for he knows not the Queen's English. JDano (talk) 21:16, 31 March 2017 (EDT)
Just don't get me onto the misuse of the word "diva". AlanE (talk) 22:10, 31 March 2017 (EDT)
Sorry, if you don't mind hearing the word again. I figured I'd add a few things to the songs category - this, "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and "Daisy Bell." And what's this about "diva"? Does it appear in the song?--Abcqwe (talk) 12:58, 17 April 2017 (EDT)
"Diva" does not appear in Rock Around the Clock. It's just that I have a visceral hatred of certain words escaping their original "proper" context and taking up residence elsewhere. "Diva" which once referred to a classical soprano of the spoilt-brattishly self-important sort has migrated and settled in the popular sphere as pretty-well any well regarded female singer. I admit to picking nits here...but you did ask.
And by the way... Chattanooga Choo Choo was not "sung" by the Glenn Miller Band. It was sung by Harry Warren who, I think, had a hand in the lyrics and he was backed by the band. Bands in those days played. They were small orchestras that existed to dance to. To swing, not sing. It was jazz. The description of singing groups as bands (or groups) came in 15 to 20 years later with the Beatles, the Stones etc. and the seemingly sudden ubiquity of the guitar.
Now see what you've done...you've got me started.
So I'd better stop. :) AlanE (talk) 00:15, 18 April 2017 (EDT)
