This article also needs to have its focus widened. This is because Social Security systems exist in various forms outside the United States, e.g. in Europe and some Asian countries and territories. Luojie 10:46, 1 August 2007 (EDT)

I work with Fix Social Security Now. I am curious who edits this page. Social Security was not put on a "stable financial basis" by anyone. It has never been actuarily sound in any year since its inception. Medicare is not part of Social Security. It is a comparable program, but its funding and expense is completely outside of Social Security. The section on LBJ has a title that is completely inconsistent with what the paragraph says. It is true that LBJ proposed a unified budget to make his budget 'appear' balance. The word appear correctly conveys the illusion. There was no actual raid of the funds.
