Talk:World Religions by Number of Followers

As an open topic for discussion, would it be appropriate to state where these figures come from? A Church might have a different opinion than, say a census. There are a few websites that keep current, or relatively current on figures like these. And our figures should err toward conservatism, but some reference of some kind seems appropriate for a list of quantities. Terryeo 23:17, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

To Conservapedia: Perhaps you need to be made aware that the bias of your encyclopedia is annoying. I can understand why a conservative writer might classify Mormonism and even seventh day Adventism as other than Christian, but to exclude the Jehovah’s witnesses from Christianity just because you disagree with them is ludicrous. The Witnesses base their expressed doctrines on the Bible far more closely than some of the denominations you list as Christian. I challenge you to give a reason ( as in “rational” ) for this exclusion .

Open up your New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures and read Genesis 15:7; 22:14; 24:35,40,42,48,50,51,56; 26:22; 27:20; 49:18, then compare them with Exodus 6:2-3. God doesn't lie, and since Moses wrote the five books of the Torah under God's guidance he didn't lie either, and yet you are very quick to point the lie accusation at both in order to protect Russell and your JW religion. You can call it what you want here, but ultimately it's your own soul on the line. And quite honestly, Russell is not having a good time where he's at right now. You set up a trilemma indicating a lie by God, Moses or Russell. I showed by reference to the Hebrew text and K J V that Russell did not lie, but rather that Jehovah ( in its original form YHWH) does indeed appear in Gen 15:7 and Ex 6:2-3 , translated as Lord or Jehovah in the K J V . Therefore according to your trilemma it must have been God or Moses who lied. You have presented no argument against my argument, but have merely indicated that your hatred for the Witnesses’ religion prevents you from rationally evaluating the evidence.

I did not set up a trilema, nor do I have hatred for your religion, nor do I have a problem with rationally evaluating the evidence. The trilema is yours and yours alone, and all that is needed for evidence is what you said above: "It was God or Moses who lied." You called God a liar. Period. Deal with it. You set up a trilemma when you said, “Either God is lying when he said it, or Moses lied when he wrote both books, or the lie was inserted by Charles Taze Russell when the JWs were founded.” I merely pointed out that that trilemma, combined with the evidence I presented, implied that EITHER God OR Moses lied. We still await your rational evaluation.

Someone who calls God a liar and chooses to blame someone else for it does not need any further explanation from us. Your argument is with God, not us, and there are plenty of sites and book which explain the differences between Christianity and JW. I strongly suggest you get your act together, swallow your pride, and deal with it now, because it's guaranteed God WILL deal with it later. Karajou (talk) 16:27, 28 February 2018 (EST)
