The Tamil kingdoms were the kingdoms of southern India, inhabited primarily by speakers of the Dravidian languages. They developed in partial isolation and somewhat differently from the Aryan north. The kingdoms produced their own epics, poetry, and arts. Parts of Tamil religious beliefs were merged into Hinduism.
