Treebeard is a character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth world, appearing in The Lord of the Rings.

He is an Ent, a tree-like being, intelligent and emotionally sensitive, with free will just like a human. He is known to be one of the oldest living beings in all of Middle-earth.

Treebeard was master of Fangorn Forest, and it was Merry and Pippin's good fortune to meet them after escaping from the orcs who had kidnapped them.
