Trigger laws concerning abortion established bans on it if and when the U.S. Supreme Court ever overruled Roe v. Wade, which the Court did on June 24, 2022.

A total of 13 states have trigger laws, and additional states have other bans that are enforceable immediately.[1]

Bans immediately went into effect in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, South Dakota and Utah.

Trigger laws in Idaho, Tennessee and Texas take effect in within days or weeks, or after a certification process in the state.

In addition, in 2022 Oklahoma banned most abortions.
