Trump VP race

The Trump VP race is the contest from May until the Republican National Convention in early July 2024, during which Donald Trump selects his Vice President running mate for the 2024 presidential election. Frontrunners, for the following reasons, include:
As predicted by Conservapedia since 2023, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) was nominated for VP by the Republican Party as selected by Donald Trump on July 15, 2024.
Top contenders
- Sen. JD Vance (R-OH)
- Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA)
- a popular[1] governor in an Electoral College-rich state (Virginia), if Youngkin could enable Trump to win this state then they'd win the election.[2]
- Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND)[3]
- Burgum, reportedly very wealthy, would not have any limits on his personal campaign spending if he is on the ticket
Runners up
- Hon. Ben Carson
- Widely respected as a physician and statesman, a solid "safe pick" who would negate unfair criticisms of Trump
- Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY)
- Considered to the strongest, most effective advocate for Trump in Congress, and a doer rather than merely a talker
- Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC)
It was reported on June 5, 2024, that the Trump campaign requested records for vetting purposes from all of the above list plus Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR).[4] But the Florida residents (Donalds and Rubio) are ineligible because the VP must reside in a state different from the president, and Sen. Cotton is likely to wait to run for president in 2028 with neoconservative support. So the real race is down to five first listed above, and primarily the top two (Vance and Burgum).
