USS Fitzgerald

The USS Fitzgerald is an American Naval ship which made headlines in June 2017 when it unaccountably collided with a civilian container ship. While none of the half dozen investigations into the collision is complete (as of 6/27/2017), it has been rumored that one or both ships were on autopilot without human supervision.
- The conservative outlet the Washington Free Beacon reports that investigators believe the container ship ACX Crystal was on autopilot at the time of collision, and that it appears that no one was at the helm.[1]
- The cargo ship's captain said ... the Fitzgerald "suddenly" steamed on to a course to cross its path.[2]
