Underemployed is an economic measurement describing U.S. adults employed and committed to working but at wages that are less than adequate to pay the bills. Typically, jobs that underemployed work usually include part-time or seasonal/temporary jobs. The underemployed seek full-time work but are unable due to market forces such as recession, ageism, skill level and regional factors. January 2011 numbers show Americans underemployed at levels approaching 20%. [1]
