User Biography and Statement of Purpose

After giving the topic some thought, I've decided to preempt future accusations of trolling by openly disclosing a few details about myself and why I'm here.

I am a liberal by United States standards (politics in the USA tends to lean right), although in any other democratic country I would probably be considered politically moderate. That is, I lean more left-ward on social issues, but on foreign policy and economic issues I tend to be pretty centrist.

I am largely agnostic in religious practice; however, I do still go to mass on occasion.

I am a first year medical student and I work in a laboratory researching autoimmune diseases at a large midwestern university. For the sake of professional anonymity, I cannot be more specific here.

In my spare time, I am very politically active; which is a large part of why I am on Conservapedia. I have found that it can be difficult to thoroughly understand a controversial issue without hearing perspectives from both sides. Living in a college town, it is easy to get lost in the flood of liberal opinions; I consider my participation in this site to be an intellectual exercise in understanding the conservative point of view.

To avoid controversy, I am mostly limiting my main-space contributions to the science-oriented topics with which I am most familiar. I am not here to fight any ideological wars; if I see something that I perceive as "conservative bias" in an article, I will leave it alone. That said, if I see an ongoing discussion, I will not hesitate to voice my opinion. I do not do so with the intention of being inflammatory, I do it out of a sincere desire to understand a different perspective through civil dialogue.

Anyhow, I think it is kind of cool that there are a lot of molecular biology articles that have yet to be created on here. It's a unique opportunity for me to brush up on some of the basics. I will try to write at least one article per week (time permitting). If anybody has a request for an article on molecular biology, immunology, or genetics, please let me know on my talk page and I will try to create one as soon as possible.

With that, I'm happy to be here. I would like to extend a cordial greetings to my fellow editors. Let's get editing!
