Most christians are confused by the book of revelations, therefore they accept the traditional view of it being future prophecy. I believe the traditional view is wrong. In the beginning of the book (ver. one) John says:"things that must SHORTLY come to pass", and it is "SIGNIFIED". Then, in ver. 3, he states: "the time is AT HAND. In ver.7 "He cometh with CLOUDS (judgement?), and they shall WAIL (cry) because of Him. Then, in Ch.2 He sends messages to churches of that day as warnings. I believe The book was "signified", so that the Christians of that day would understand, and the enemies of the early church would not understand. I think it squares with what Christ says in Matt.23 & 24 with His woes upon the Scribes and Pharisees. Also His saying, (in Ch.24:15 : "when YE (meaning those He was talking to) see the abomination, etc. fly from Judaea into the mountains - the "abomination" being Titus, coming to destroy Jerusalem (for the "Beast", Nero). It's kind of like the promises made by God through Abraham and his seed (singular)- meaning Christ, being traditionally mis-interprited as being the Israelite nation: even though Gal. 3:16 states: "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made, He sayeth NOT, to seeds as of many; but to seed as of one, meaning Christ". (and Ver. 29) "if ye be Christ's,then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise". For many years, I was confused with Revelations, until I became aware of the "Preterist" view. I may be wrong, but,I don't think so. Find "Preterist", or Preterism on your computer, and see if it squares with scripture, as I think it does. God bless. Lionel
