Hello IlTrovatore. And thank you also Jpatt for the very prompt welcome to the CP community. It's nice to meet you both! IT, the (partial) answer to your question is that firstly, I am a biomedical researcher. Through the study of life I have come to appreciate, in a way that I suspect perhaps only those who delve deeply into the mysteries of life can, that living organisms consist of incomprehensibly complex systems that are exquisitely tuned to support their function. This balance of nature is so delicate and so apparently carefully calculated that it could not have arisen by chance. In short, I believe that studying the complexity of life necessarily leads to understanding its ultimate Creator, which could not have been "natural." My beliefs align very well with those expressed by Francis Collins in his The Language of God. That is to say, I believe that evolution is God's way of creating and continuing to interact with us. I should point out that my work is not explicitly theistic in any way; I study problems that are of secular interest. It is simply the discovery process that has strengthened my faith that science is inadequate to explain all that we see. If you are interested in scientific creationism (I think that term encapsulates its many forms), another excellent book is The Science of God by Gerald Schroeder. Although as a Jew he fails to account for many of the important theological truths, he does an excellent job of reconciling modern physics and cosmology with the Biblical account of creation.
