Wernicke's centre

Wernicke's centre is a region of the brain associated with the comprehension of language. Specifically it is the occipital part of the speech area, a region in the posterior part of gyrus temporalis superior of the dominant half of the brain. It was discovered by the notable German neurologist Carl Wernicke in 1878.
