1. What was the Roman Empire great at, and what was it not-so-great or even terrible at? Explain briefly 1.- Rome provided there people a rational, and simple idea of law. "Innocent until proven guilty". This concept enabled a practical and efficient way of conception. Although most Empires chose there leaders by successors or dynasty, this proved inefficient for the Romans. Suffering many different catastrophes under the reign of these irresponsible leaders, the Empire as a whole would have benefitted greatly without these people.

2. Discuss the Byzantine Empire and explain its relationship with the Roman Empire. 2.- A.D. 314-323. Constantine conquered the eastern half of Rome, starting the Byzantine Empire. The Empire, unlike the western side, was wealthy and thriving. After the fall of Rome, the eastern half lived for another 1000 years.

3. When did the Roman Empire begin, and when did it end? When did the Roman Republic begin, and when did it end? 3.-
4. Discuss Pax Romana and its historical significance. 4.-Pax Romana, meaning "the Roman Peace". Marked by the end of the civil war. The majority of leaders from this time period were picked mainly for there talents, opposed to being chosen by family connections. The Emperors of Pax Romana primarily enjoyed peace.

5. Explain who Julius Caesar was, and why he was important. 5.- Weather he was great or not is debatable. He invented the 365 day, 12 month concept. An incredible war strategist, and ruler. He was arrogant and powerful, and lead an outstanding military force. with it, Julius Caesar defeated Pompey, which benefited him to full control in Rome. Though his death inflicted years of chaos.

6. Identify and discuss three of the Roman Emperors. 6a.- A.D. 37-68 Nero, one of the most infamous men in history. He became emperor at age 16, when his mother married his uncle. He was obnoxious and lazy, and blamed by historians for starting the Fire of Rome. 6b.- A.D. 121-180 Marcus Aurelius ruled Rome along side his brother, Verus. Marcus effectively held his ground against invaders, but failed due to his brothers death. Marcus Aurelius is considered one of the best Roman Emperors. 6c.- A.D. 14-37 Tiberius thought of himself as a god. He was aristocratic and pompous, though an incredible military commander. He participated in murderous schemes and ironically, retired peacefully.

7. Pick either Hannibal or Attila the Hun, and explain their role in history. 7.- Attila the Hun, a brutal and merciless leader. Attila originally ruled along side his brother, but killed him to gain full control of the Huns. Pillaging there way through, Attila lead his mean across eastern and central Europe. The Huns eventually settled in what is now Hungary.
