Zacchaeus was a wealthy tax collector who demonstrated his faith in Christ by climbing a tree to see over the crowds due to his small stature. Jesus noticed him in the tree, then expressed a desire to visit his home, which astounded the crowd because tax collectors were despised and considered to be sinners.

Zacchaeus subsequently promised to give half of his wealth to the poor and to repay anyone he cheated fourfold.[1]
