Budapest is the capital of Hungary.
It was formed in 1873 by the merger of the twin cities of Buda and Pest. It is known for its many beautiful old buildings and striking bridges across the River Danube, and is sometimes referred to as "The Paris of Eastern Europe". The population is about 1.7m[1].
