The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is an intermediate federal appellate court based in Cincinnati, Ohio. It hears appeals from federal district courts in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Future President and Chief Justice of the United States William Howard Taft once sat as a judge on the court. Other Sixth Circuit judges who have subsequently served on the U.S. Supreme Court include: Howell Edmunds Jackson, Horace Harmon Lurton, William R. Day and Potter Stewart. As of the end of the 2012-2013 term, the Sixth Circuit has been reversed in all but one out of its 25 decisions that have been heard by the Supreme Court on appeal since John Roberts has been appointed Chief Justice, the worst record of any of the circuits.[1]
