A picture is a symbolic drawn representation meant to convey a similarity to something that exists in reality.
Many of the earliest forms of writing communication made use of pictures (or pictograms), such as hieroglyphics which pre-dated written language. Pictures have also been a popular form of artistic representation. Modern pictures are often created in the form of photographs by using cameras.
