Alan Partridge is a fictional television and radio presenter played by Steve Coogan in a number of different programmes. Despite an oppotunity on BBC2 with the chat show "Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge", he ends up washed up, presenting a late-night early morning radio show called "Up With the Partridge" on Radio Norwich. Partridge is portrayed as insensitive and deliberately rude to virtually everybody, including his wife and the guests on his programmed. Consequently, he has few friends at the BBC, has been kicked out of his house by his wife (and now lives at a "Travel Tavern", referred to once as a layby) and is given the graveyard shift on radio.
