::I'll be looking into this theory, but it may take awhile to comment on it. My impression as of now is that the "federal investigator" is likely a lone staffer on the House Intelligence Committee with a low-level whistleblower FBI field agent as a contact (the field agent is not leaking, he is cooperating with Congressional oversight, hence disclosing information is legal). But the field agent-whistleblower and the staffer have more information that for now is undisclosed. Wheeler is their unofficial media contact. ::InnHersch's long, complicated, and storied career (and I remember My Lai) I cannot think of annnstsnce he was wrong or misled, although I'm sure it's happened. Generally he doesn't speak on a controversisl issue to he's sure of his facts even when it's years or decades late rvsnd the story had faded from public memory. He really does not sensationalize.
