Antonio López de Santa Anna. Born 1794 Jalapa, Mexico - Died 1876, Mexico City. President-General of Mexico during the Texas War of Independence and Mexican-American War. He was the most conspicuous and continuously active of the military adventurers who filled Mexico with uncertainty during the first two generations of its independence.
