Moshiach (var. meshiah, from Hebrew משיח or "anointed one") is the Jewish word for Messiah. It refers to a man, descended patrilineally from David, who will gather all Jews back to the Holy Land and bring an age of peace.
Christians and Messianic Jews believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Sunni Muslims also believe that Jesus will return as a Messianic figure, although as a man, not deity.
