Sir Michael Anthony Epstein CBE, FRS, born 18 May 1921 (age 104), was one of the discoverers of the Epstein-Barr virus.

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1979 and was its Vice-President, 1986-1991. He was awarded its Royal Medal in 1992.

He was educated at St. Paul's School, London, Trinity College, Cambridge, and Middlesex Hospital Medical School.
