David Silverman served as the President of the American Atheists organization. [1] In October 2019, he was hired to be the Executive Director of Atheist Alliance International.[2]

In 2018, Silverman was fired from the American Atheist organization after allegations of financial conflicts and sexual assault.[3] Nick Fish, the new president of American Atheists, indicated that Silverman's termination was not over sexual allegations, but as a result of a "loss of confidence" stemming from violations of internal policies on staff management, conflicts of interest, and their general code of conduct.[4] Silverman, through his lawyer, denies any wrong doing and indicates he has never had a non-consensual sexual encounter.[5] In 2019, atheists PZ Myers and Stephanie Zvan indicate that Silverman's attempts to improve his public image have failed.[6][7] In his book, Fighting God, Silverman indicates that he is a “proud feminist.” (See also: Atheism and sexism and Atheism and the Me Too Movement).[8] See also: Firing of David Silverman from the American Atheists organization

David Silverman denied he cheated on his wife and later admitted to it

David Silverman claimed that he had an open relationship with his Jewish and theist wife, but later admitted he lied about that his matter and cheated on her.[9]

The atheist PZ Myers wrote about David Silverman cheating on his wife:

“ I want to bring up one thing that bothers me deeply, but doesn’t get emphasized much. Silverman’s actions, even if they were consensual (and I don’t believe they were) lacked consent from one other significant person: Silverman’s wife. I don’t even know her name, but her long relationship with this man was cruelly wrecked by his actions, and that’s a betrayal that strongly affects my feelings about the guy. It was a rotten thing to do, and he did it repeatedly. Even if he were magically reprieved of everything else (again, not that I think he can be), it means that personally I would never be able to trust him again. How you treat your partners in the deepest relationships in your life matters.[10] ”
