Michael David Reese, known as Mike Reese (born December 22, 1975), is a real estate businessman from Leesville in Vernon Parish in western [[Louisiana], who is an incoming Republican state senator for District 30, which encompasses parts of Beauregard, Calcasieu and Vernon parishes. On January 13, 2020, he will succeed the term-limited Senator John R. Smith (born 1945), also of Leesville. Reese finished the Senate race with 14,625 votes (51 percent) and won the seat outright over another Republican, former state Representative Brett Geymann, who received 6,296 votes (22 percent), and a departing Democratic state representative, James K. Armes, III, who drew 5,973 votes (21 percent). A fourth candidate, Republican Renee Hoffpauir-Klann, held the remaining 1,935 votes (7 percent).[1]

In his platform, Reese refers to the positive economic impact of lower taxes and less regulations. Reese said the future of the state is "in peril. It's time for serious reforms and smart, forward-thinking legislators to point Louisiana in a new direction."[2] ==References==
