Castle Doctrine is a concept dealing with self-defense in which anyone unlawfully trespassing on a person's property (e.c, a home, car, or place of work, their "Castle") gives the owner the right to use deadly force to defend themselves (defending the castle). It is defined differently in different states. The name has its origin in the English common law rules protecting a person's home and the phrase "one's home is one's castle." [1]
