Raylon Dewith Carrier, known as R. Dewith Carrier (born July 30, 1950), is the incoming Republican state representative for District 32 in Allen, Beauregard, and Calcasieu parishes in western Louisiana.
With 8,134 votes (64 percent), he defeated two Democrats, Herman Ray Hill, the husband of the retiring Representative Dorothy Sue Hill, and Kristian Poncho, who polled 3,394 (27 percent) and 1,151 (9 percent), respectively. The election turnout of registered voters was 50.2 percent.[1]
Carrier owns businesses, Service Office Centre/Teacher's Pet in Crowley in Acadia Parish and Oakdale in Allen Parish. From 1993 to 2005, he was the mayor pro tempore of Oberlin, the Allen Parish seat of government. From 2016 to 2017, he was the president of the Oakdale Rotary Club. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Oakdale, Kinder (also Allen Parish), and Crowley. He is the president of the Oberlin Housing Authority, a member of the Allen Parish Crime Stoppers, and a board member of the Southwest Louisiana Center for Health Services.[2]
