Classicism, a movement in art, based on antique and Renaissance heritage, and is often times associated specifically with architecture. It lasted roughly from 1600 until 1800. As a movement classicism looked back to the arts of the classic period (pagan Greece and Rome) and sought inspiration there.[1]

Classicism is also an association to certain beliefs spanning St. Thomas Aquinas to Thomas Jefferson.[2]
