In June 2020, BLM began targeting historic monuments within the United States by vandalizing and destroying them.  Historic members of Americas past, that were previously immortalized in statue form in public spaces, were targeted during nightly gatherings of radicalized anarchists.  Often the letters "BLM" were spray painted on statue bases or the statues were decapitated and totally removed and then vandalized.
