Characters from non-English alphabets can be copied from anywhere and then pasted in an edit box, and their fonts are usually preserved by the MediaWiki software.--[[User:Aschlafly|Andy Schlafly]] 19:00, 3 October 2014 (EDT)

:The appropriate font has to be installed on the system the reader is using. They are not on the site. For Hebrew, see [http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-word/hebrew-font/38815df6-0fa1-49f7-8a7a-5b250a2fcd50 this]. You can use either cut-and-paste or the "Character Map" feature. You don't usually have to worry about fonts unless it's something really out of the ordinary like cuneiform. ::You guys, I really appreciate your replies. What you ''didn't'' know is: I've '''never''' done a copy and paste, and I've had a computer for 6 years. I had no idea what to do when you recommended that I do it, and when I looked at the tools menu top right my screen I was still in the dark how to use Edit Cut Copy Paste. I didn't know anyone I could ask to teach me what to do, and I didn't want to annoy you guys with that request, so I experimented a bit and got no results. So I went to bed, woke up 2 hours later, and it suddenly occurred to me (uh-''Du-'''uh'''!'') to turn on the computer and search "How to copy and paste". Well, the time now is 00:03 my time (CDT), and over the past several minutes I watched two tutorials on MyTube. I came here and found PeterKa's response added to Andy's. You guys are a lot friendlier than the Administrator-snipers on Wikipedia. So now I know what in the world you were telling me to do, and the added data you both supplied above--"preserved by the MediaWiki software" and "need installation of the font on the system I'm using"--helps complete the picture. After I complete this edit, I'll access the Hebrew font using the link PeterKa provided. ''Thanks, guys!'' God bless + you both. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] 01:30, 4 October 2014 (EDT)

::'''''Ho'''-kay!'' That was not really clear. I'm still a 68-year-old novice on the computer. This coming Wednesday, when I start constructing the articles I would like to contribute, I'll simply copy the Hebrew and Greek words and characters I need from other sites, like the Hebrew-English parallel MT and JPS 1917 text at {{bibleverse||Numbers|4|HE}}, and elpenor.com's ''English-Greek Septuagint'', and paste them onto the edit page of the constructed article. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] 02:05, 4 October 2014 (EDT)

:Thank you, Conservative, for your evident confidence in my expertise at researching a topic. I am willing, but the "flesh is weak", so I will do what I can after I have completed [[Badger skins (Bible)]] (this week?) and have taken a break. My difficulty is the stamina required to research, compose, create and edit an article. I edit slowly, and sometimes it takes me 5 hours to refine a single paragraph. (For example, I began this response 13:28, timestamp check, 12:28 my time, and posted it only after carefully proofreading and revising and reviewing it several times on [Show preview] before deeming it satisfactory.) Nevertheless, I will be ''happy'' to assist as long as I am able and have opportunity. Please be patient. I am looking forward to working with the Conservapedia community. :When these have been given concise and satisfactory encyclopedic treatment, I'll survey [[Philosophical naturalism]], articulating more than a dictionary type definition of the subject—expect as brief an outline overview as I used in the "Badger skins (Bible)" article (I believe there were indications of it before the Greeks, in Sumer, about the time of [[Lugalzaggisi]] and [[Sargon I]], but I'll have to check on that).<br/>I realistically anticipate a probable research and development period of about 10 months total November through August for all 5 requests sequentially as set forth here ending about September 2015 with final finishing touches on "Philosophical naturalism". My pet Tommikat died 9 December 2014 11 years old (queened in 2003). I miss him, and I will not have another indoor pet at my age. Instead I keep the bird-feeder outside the dining room window full in winter for the sparrows, chickadees, juncos, cardinals, blue jays, and thieving squirrels. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] 16:37, 16 January 2015 (EST)

::Thanks, James, I very much appreciated your unexpected expression of sympathy. In July I relented and got another cat from the [[Animal Rescue League]] for my mother. He was queened in 2008. We retained his original name "Fuzz". 20 inches from nose to rump. He is a domestic shorthair, pussywillow grey, with a tan undercoat that shows only when he's stroked backward (he loves it!), and has beautiful green eyes. He was severely depressed before we adopted him, weighed 22 lbs. (!) and was shaped like a big football with feet and no legs. But after a good diet on ''Purina Natural for Indoor Cats'' (lost 4 lbs.) and gentle loving he is happily "retired" with us, his legs are visible, and he has discovered that he is free to "complain" when we are not doing things the way he wants. When we turn on TV in the morning at 0700 hrs for the EWTN Daily Mass he always comes in and lies down and listens to the whole program (his ears move), and as soon as it's over, even when we don't immediately get up, he leaves the room and goes back to sleep. Imagine that: a Christian cat (!) ''Outstanding !'' --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 11:53, 17 September 2015 (EDT)

:::Fuzz suddenly lost his potty training and began having seizures over a period of 4 days end of February. He came to the side of my chair while I was at the computer, which was not normal, looked up at me and said a sad "''ma-ow''" and crouched on the floor. I looked down and asked, "Are you all right?" He made a sadder, much softer "''ma-oh''" (almost like "no"), he lowered his head, looked down and closed his eyes. I stroked him and he purred. Then 29 February I took him to ARL to be examined, and nothing could be done. I requested euthanasia for him and after the veterinarian checked him over and told me the procedure I assured her that I preferred to be with Fuzz as he died, so he would be less frightened, and told her that I have seen death close up many times, including men I have been with. She did not know that people also sometimes make a small spasm when they die. Within two minutes of the injection, the vet said "He's gone". Then she said quietly as she checked him again, "There was something seriously wrong with this cat. It's not normal for them to pass so quickly!" She agreed that I had done the right thing for him. I stroked him, kissed him on the head saying, "One last time, baby cat." Then I arranged for the ARL there to take care of his disposal, and I donated all of his kitty equipment and leftover supplies to ARL, for which they thanked me. I notified Home Again microchip services, then Fuzz's regular vet, and finally the city licensing clerk, that he was dead. I have good memories of all my pets, and Fuzzy is the last and final one. I thank God for all the animals, our companions in the miracle of life on earth. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 13:59, 18 April 2016 (EDT)

::Just another annotation: For emphasis, you put  some verses in parentheses like <nowiki>[[haec est autem vita aeterna ut cognoscant te solum verum Deum et quem misisti Iesum Christum]]</nowiki>. Though this adds a nice red color, it has the disadvantage that a link to a nonexistent article is created: [[haec est autem vita aeterna ut cognoscant te solum verum Deum et quem misisti Iesum Christum]]

−
::I don't know whether you intend to write an article on each of the versions of the verse - you can do so just by clicking on the red link above.

−
::If you don't want to create these articles, you should try to avoid such links - as they appear at [[Special:WantedPages]].

−
::There are other ways to create emphasis:

−
::#you could use <nowiki><span style="color:red">haec est autem...</span></nowiki> to get <span style="color:red">haec est autem...</span>. Same optic, but no link!

−
::#you could link to an existing article by piping: <nowiki>[[John 15-21 (Translated)|haec est autem...]]</nowiki> gives [[John 15-21 (Translated)|haec est autem...]], <nowiki>[[John 15-21 (Translated)#Chapter 17|haec est autem...]]</nowiki> takes you to the respective [[John 15-21 (Translated)#Chapter 17|chapter]] of the [[CBP]].

−
Thanks for creating the article [[Argument from religious experience]].

−

−
Suggestions:

−

−
1. After Latin terms put in parenthesis the meaning of the Latin phrase.

−

−
2.  Take into account [[Deism]] as far as the article.

−

−
3.  You could also take into account the arguments relating to Divine Hiddenness.

−

−
"At that time Jesus said, 'I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.'" - Matthew 11:25.  See also: 1 Corinthians 2: 6-9

:Thanks for your suggestions. I believe that the core meaning of the article as titled is the argument from testimony based on other people's experiences. The philosophically perceived and speculatively defined experience of ''[http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/deus%20absconditus Deus Absconditus]'' is a distinctly separate subject which merits separate treatment, more related to [[Causes of atheism]]. The subsection, [[Argument from religious experience#The argument of Jesus Christ|The argument of Jesus Christ]], points to His [[intuition|intuitive]] evidential argument, which does not depend on the argument from religious experience but on what Vatican II pointed out is the inner knowing of each person when confronted with the evidential objective externalist doctrine of the truth of God's existence in Romans 1:19-22. If you are fully persuaded that the above material should be included, please feel free to insert it into the article with my full approbation and consent. I wish you well. ''Semper Fi!'' --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] 16:10, 26 February 2015 (EST)

−
:Additional thought. All of your suggested material appears to me to be more related to ''experiences of the absence of God'', which has some treatment in [[Swinburne's argument from religious experience#Experiences of the absence of God: a negative principle of credulity|Swinburne's argument from religious experience: ''Experiences of the absence of God: a negative principle of credulity'']] pertaining to atheistic critiques of Swinburne's empirical argument, more particularly in the subsection "[[Swinburne's argument from religious experience#Response: Atheist Michael Martin|Response: Atheist Michael Martin]]". In my opinion it more pertinently belongs there. However, I believe you should compose a separate article with the  cited and linked resources you provided above, "[[Divine hiddenness]]". <br/>Again, I appreciate your message. Go ahead and improve the article if you are persuaded it needs the additional info. <br/>''Pax vobis''. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] 16:39, 26 February 2015 (EST)

−

−
I was reflecting today, that fashioning an article for Conservapedia which factually explains error and defends Christianity is like a meditation and praise of God. The semitic expression found in the Bible, "Give glory to God and praise him", simply means "Tell the truth" (Josh. 7:19; cf. Luke 23:47). The information I gathered, sifted and put together improved my understanding of how reasonable is our faith in Jesus Christ and his body, his Church, the body of the faithful, his bride, militant, suffering and triumphant. I feel enriched in spirit, and deeply grateful to him. Please pray for the blessing of our country, our leaders, our military, in particular the United States Marines both at home and abroad, and our covert operatives and "black ops" specialists working in secret to secure for us the blessings of freedom of worship and liberty from the oppression all who wish us harm. It would be most appreciated. Thanks. ''Semper Fi ! Pax vobis.''

I just last night, after having gone over the text, finished correcting a minor defect in copy by a more consistent use of the shorter "dash" ( – ) in the article [[Revelation, Book of (historical exegesis)]]. It's finally finished. I must tell you that it was difficult and time-consuming, because my eyesight is failing, mostly due to the increased abundance of "floaters" which cloud my vision, having the same frustrating, fatiguing and annoying effect as oily dirt smears on eyeglasses or combat/sports goggles, when attempting to see small defects even up close, but these can't be wiped away. It's only getting worse. I felt that you all deserved to know why I had to withdraw from Conservapedia because of health. My consolation is the hope that what I have contributed will be of some lasting benefit to your readers and students. I assure you that I have not despaired of the pure goodness of God, and that my retirement is otherwise relatively free of stress. I am looking forward to a joyful homecoming in heaven with Jesus Christ Our Lord, and I wish all of you the very best and pray for the increased success of the mission of Conservapedia. Amen.

== Harmony of the Gospels? ==

−

−
Andy, Administrators, and Staff of Conservapedia, ''Peace be with you'':

−

−
Probably due to the Holy Spirit responding to your prayers on my behalf in possibly prompting me to continue in some way to contribute to Conservapedia ("''pursuant to the Great Commission''", Andy's words, above), I feel a generous need to provide a kind of "literalistic" [[Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)]], after the pattern of the well-known but no-longer-extant ''[[Diatessaron]]''. (I was surprised to find no such treatment in a search on Conservapedia.) If I am able to accomplish this, it will undoubtedly take a while, due to fatigue from eyestrain, but I'm game to put forth the effort. This will be less arduous than constructing a major article, because I am very familiar with the material devotionally and from research, so that the particular limitation and needed withdrawal as noted by me above under "eyesight" still obtains.

−

−
I should like to incorporate the biblical text as rectified and revised by contributors to the [[Conservapedia Bible Project]], according to the principles outlined in the Project, pasting the text from there to the dedicated subpage established here below and edited as a [[redaction]]. Thus it will be a specifically Conservapedia publication.

−

−
I do not intend to put forth a ''critical edition'', but a text that demonstrates naturally to the reader and Bible student that there are no such contradictions as asserted by liberalist scholars. A marginal column of Bible links will be provided to demonstrate to the reader that nothing has been omitted. If Our Lord permits me to complete this Harmony, it may take me about 18 months to finish, from today, projected finishing date sometime around September/October 2017.

:I've had that happen too--it's very frustrating! Depending on what browser you use, you can sometimes hit the back button, and get to the edit page containing all of your unsaved text.  I know this often works with [[Mozilla Firefox|Firefox]], anyway.  Also, I know hindsight is 20/20, but I've also sometimes copied all the text into notepad, a "sticky note" or some other window before submitting.  It's easy to forget to do this, but it can be a real life-saver.  Anyway, I hope that doesn't happen again! --[[User:DavidB4|<font color="ForestGreen">David B</font>]] <small>([[User talk:DavidB4|TALK]])</small> 13:07, 8 December 2016 (EST)

::Thanks, men, for your support! The 29 Nov incident that destroyed the extensive edit did not allow back page response... and I had failed to copy the page each time I intended to "Preview". My current strategy is to do small incremental edits and save each one. I regret this measure will prove tedious to the extreme to our faithful administrators and stewards who take security seriously and are duty-bound to check changes as they occur. I had intended to spare them by doing an all-day-long single edit with frequent "Preview page" checks of my work before finally submitting that current phase of development. However, my proven trustworthiness may allow them to do a simpler "eye-ball" check and know it's all copacetic. I can check vandalism myself on this page.

== Three new articles ==

I have just finished three articles that I think are essential small parts of Conservapedia's vast educational mission:

−
*[[Ante-Nicene Fathers]]

−
*[[Great Apostasy]]

−
*and an expansion of the origin and history in an already existing [http://www.conservapedia.com/index.php?title=Sunday_School&diff=1296641&oldid=819042 Sunday School] article.

−
My sincere apology for delaying completion of the final seventh section of ''[[Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)]]''. My eyesight has not gotten worse (not yet), and I wanted to present a treatment of these three subjects while I still could.

−

−
I grew up Disciples of Christ and then Conservative Baptist, accepted Christ as my personal Savior at the age of 12 and was baptized by immersion, and as a teen became a leader in my Youth Department and an enthusiastic youth conversion counsellor for newly baptized converts and an active member of Youth for Christ (Billy Graham's organization) in Des Moines in the early 60's. After initially failing college in '68, I became deeply committed to researching the origins and history of Christianity and the Bible, and anthropology, and had a totally unexpected powerful spiritual experience of Jesus as Lord calling me back to Him. After further investigation and careful prayer and discernment and discovering to my surprise that the Catholic Church actually preaches Jesus as the only Savior, I converted to the Catholic Church in 1978. So I think I have an informed understanding and sympathetic view of the subject matter as an amateur historian, a previous Fundamentalist, and as a Catholic convert in 1978. See my balanced treatment of the [[Great Apostasy]] and my article on [[Badger skins (Bible)]].

−

−
Near the end of completing the article [[Sunday School]] there were two vandalizing edits, so I placed a lock on the article, but only temporarily. When I remove it I'll simply see what happens.

−

−
Now that these other articles are finished, I plan to complete the redaction of the seventh section of Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version) before the end of January (''this year!''), while I still can. Then after a final proof-reading of all seven sections of the entire feature, which might take all of February, I will not construct any more extensive articles. I don't think I'll have the energy, and besides, I keep forgetting some details of editing, making it necessary to constantly go back and correct my omissions and mistaken typos after "saving page", so I'm sure you all understand.

−

−
February 1st is my 70th birthday. God's will be done. All praise to Jesus Christ the Only-Begotten Son of God, the only Savior, and true son of Mary, true ''Theotokos'', whom "all generations will call Blessed", whom Elizabeth, full of the Holy Spirit, called Mother of God "'''μήτηρ τοῦ Κυρίου'''" for the first time in all of human history ([http://www.biblehub.com/multi/luke/1-43.htm Luke 1:43] and [http://www.biblehub.com/multi/luke/1-48.htm 48]).

== Copying large block of text on Windows 10 ==

−

−
After I upgraded to Windows 10 I could no longer copy a whole block of text by placing the cursor in a space at the top and using as before the '''Ctrl + c''' keys pressed simultaneously. That only sometimes highlighted a line for copying, depending on where I had positioned the cursor. I searched online in vain for an instruction for a whole-block copy-and-paste procedure with Windows 10. Pasting the copied text to another (created) page was still performed the same as before with Ctrl + v.

−

−
I then had the tedious task of holding down the left click of the mouse and scrolling down from the top of the text to the bottom while holding it down, in order to highlight the whole of the text for copying with Ctrl + c. I did that in transferring completed drafts of the seven-chapter long texts of the Longer sections of the ''Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)'' to transfer and paste on the (newly created) page. It took up to 8 minutes to highlight the whole text to be  copied with Ctrl + c. It worked, but what a pain. I wanted to "hurt" something. ["''Ready—'''FIRE!!!'''''"] But I settled for having to put up with this electronic "improvement" of Windows 10. (''Ever noticed how "improvements" involve even more complexed inconvenience?'')

−

−
But I have only just now ''accidentally'' discovered the same block-text copy function can be performed in Windows 10 with the lower-case "a" key by positioning the cursor at the '''bottom''' of the whole of the drafted text on the edit page and using the '''Ctrl key + a''' to instantly highlight the entire block of text above it, and then using the Ctrl key + c to copy the highlighted field. I had intended to capitalize an "A" at the beginning of a sentence, but unintentionally pressed the Ctrl key instead of Shift. When this highlighted the whole block of material, it only took one experiment to discover that this accident which highlighted everything above the position of the cursor, allowed copying the highlighted block with Ctrl + c and pasting it as a copy lower down the page with Ctrl + v.

I have just finished revising and expanding the article [[Pope]] for balance, encyclopedic completeness and accuracy. Various "biblical" criticisms have been set forth and refuted with linguistic and historical fact. The whole offensively anti-Catholic tone of the article as I originally found it has been altered away from negative [[half-truth]]s. The scandal of bad popes has been included, the fact of holy popes as well, along with a factual historical defense of the reliable integrity of the infallible teaching office of the papacy. On the [[Talk:Pope#Repairs, Upgrades, Improvements, Corrections, History|talk page]] are several criticisms I answered one-by-one. <br>--[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 14:16, 23 January 2017 (EST)

== New Article, Old Title [[Hypocrites]] ==

−

−
I just finished the links to a freshly-written article [[Hypocrites]]. I had intended to remove the Redirect from [[Hypocrite]], but an editorial move was not possible. The redirect page was protected ([View source] only). So I entered the search window with "hypocrite" and added an "s", clicked it, was invited to create the page, and got a "warning" that a page with the title Hypocrites had been deleted. I do not know what the deleted page contained and I did not seek to find out. (I guessed that it was an offensive and slanted list of names.) The fact that the definition of "hypocrite" itself differs somewhat in substance from the general topic of (''political, governmental'') [[Hypocrisy]] gave me reason to construct a new article under the old title, briefly discussing the various identifying characteristics of hypocrites in general in what I intended to be a balanced and neutrally informative page. I then provided links to relevant Conservapedia articles, and to honestly-written external links on hypocrites in history, government, politics, journalism, education, business, sports, health and human services, and Christianity and the Church, and concluded the list with a link to the [[Second Vatican Council|Vatican II]] text of ''Gaudium et Spes'', which discusses the causes of modern stress, including scandal, hypocrisy, unbelief and atheism, and the causes of atheism. The new article briefly acknowledges both deliberate fraud, dishonest ''poseurs'', and the defect of the unconscious self-deception of personally unrecognized moral pretense, as well as the scandal that these cause. The [[Hypocrites#External links|external links]] provide opportunity for educational insight for discerning hypocrites using general examples from real life.<br>May the peace of the Lord be with you all. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 02:54, 25 January 2017 (EST)

== Disappointing delay re Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version) ==

−

−
My intention to finish the final chapters of Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version) was blocked by family demands, holiday and church activities, and this past 4 weeks by complications and infection from oral surgery which laid me low. Recovery has been slow, and I am able to concentrate again.

−

−
I am carefully re-reading Josephus and Eusebius, together with Paul L. Meier's "''Essential''" condensations, to draw out what is most relevant to the siege and destruction of Jerusalem, similar to the purpose of the author of 2 Maccabees (2:20-21). Several of the speeches in Josephus have a prophetic character similar to the invectives of the biblical prophets against Israel, and illuminate the fact that the words of Jesus were fulfilled; but many of the accounts of individuals are not needed, such as the actions of the auxiliary Pudens, who attacked, slipped and fell, and was killed by one of the rebels, who was himself killed and fell on Pudens' body, an incident that Josephus presents as proverbial of the ironies of war. The speeches are morally and spiritually instructive, but the general overall details of the siege are all that is needed for the purpose of this Harmony. My intent is to condense without changing or altering the essentials of the event, without omitting much that Meier did not include, and to simplify and update the wording of the original English translations of Whiston and Tacitus without violating copyrights.

I was profoundly disappointed (and quietly irritated!) with so many overwhelming interruptions beginning in August of last year, and my duties to my family and community are so paramount in Christ, and I made so many concessions to the needs of others, that I was not able to finish by the end of September 2016 as I had hoped. March appears to be potentially less demanding of my time, and so I may be able to finish the final chapters and bring the entire Harmony to completion just before Easter.

:Well, it hasn't happened. The closer I get to the end, the more I'm interrupted. It's almost uncanny! However, I'm doing what I can as I'm allowed, by circumstance, stamina, and duty. Originally, I had speculated that this project would be completed by Sept. 15, 2017, which I privately thought would be too much time, and that I would be finished long before then, in fact a full year before. But the original target date may prove to be more close to reality than I expected. I expect to be finished with chapter forty-seven tonight or tomorrow. That leaves the redaction of chapter forty-eight, and then chapter forty-nine; neither of them should take nearly as long as chapter forty-seven has. My one motivating hope in continuing is the possibility that this work will substantially benefit the reader. Peace be with you.<br>--[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 21:11, 8 June 2017 (EDT)

== Last chapters of "Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)" much too long ==

−

−
Last night I proofread chapter Forty-nine to determine the reading time. It was 5 hours 20 minutes: 2200 to 0320. ''Way too much!''

−

−
I will now set about dividing chapters Forty-three through Forty-nine into 14 smaller chapters, and separate them into two groups, making a Section Eight. (I feel like a "Section eight", after all the work I've done on it! Still, I believe the final result will make the whole ''Harmony'' project a worthwhile endeavor.)

−

−
Esthetically, for devotional-reading, I would like to make the final overall arrangement of the feature a structure of eight sections of seven chapters each.

−

−
My original intent was to structure the feature into forty-nine chapters corresponding to the forty-nine days of [[Lent]] leading to the fiftieth day of the triumph of [[Easter]], and to the forty-nine days of Easter-season preceding the fiftieth day of [[Pentecost]]. But the whole of the material of the final chapters, Forty-six through Forty-nine, has proved to be too much reading to arrange into only four chapters. I am going to separate the material in Section Seven according to "natural dividing places", so that each chapter ends at a "spiritually instructive" climax.

−

−
Regarding the fact that the Book of Acts does not end with an "amen", I am not the only scholar who personally believes that this was the original intention of the author, to implicitly express the reality that the mission of the preaching of the Gospel is on-going from the time of the apostles to the day of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory, at the final "trump of God" (1&nbsp;Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 10:5-7)—

== System automatic update/restart will delete copied text in "edit" mode ==

−

−
I was engaged in a single large overall proofreading edit over a period of about 25 hours when a pop-up notice appeared that updates were ready and a restart would be required, either now or later. This is a normal, intermittent service provided to me, and it has been no problem, before now. As I was in the process of reviewing and correcting the text of Section Seven, chapters Fifty through Fifty-six of ''Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)'', and composing some needed additional marginal notes, I would frequently highlight the whole section [Ctrl + a], copy it [Ctrl + c] with the current ongoing revisions made at the moment, then click "see preview". I had done this over a period of 25 hours, taking intermittent breaks, with the intention of submitting the whole Section page after the overall task was finished, by finally clicking "save page" ''once'', and once only; after which I would scan (not skim) the whole Section and if it seemed to be perfectly acceptible then create the page, and finish the whole project. I saw and dismissed (X) the normal update/restart pop-up without activating it or clicking "remind me later". I continued editing, then again copied the whole page of what revisions and additions I had made to that point (from the top of chapter Fifty through the siege and destruction of Jerusalem to the middle of chapter Fifty-five), and took a needed 2 hr. break, intending to resume work on the proofreading and revision. When I returned, the computer screen displayed the normal initial operating start-up page'''!''' Annoying. Puzzling. But, nevertheless I believed I had saved all the work I'd done, because I had used the [Ctrl + c] copy function. When I re-accessed this talk page with the draft of the Section, entered the edit screen, then highlighted the whole with [Ctrl + a] and did a paste-over function with [Ctrl + v], every revision I had made during the previous 25 hours was gone'''!'''. All that work'''!'''. Gone'''!'''. This was worse than the day last year when 13 hours of work on this project had been deleted by a vandal.

−

−
I assume that in this instance I should have copied the page with all the revisions, interrupted my attempt to make one massive overall edit with a "save page", then activate a "Restart". Because I did not want to obediently submit to the servicing demand of an impersonal idiot electronic system, I lost all the effort I'd expended over a period of two days.

−

−
I decided the risk of so much loss of work, again, was not worth taking, and began reconstruction of everything I'd done to that point in proofreading and revision. But this time instead of one single revising edit I have been saving each little bit of reconstruction with small, incrimental edits, each preserved by clicking "save page".

−

−
I really believe in this project, and I fully intend to complete it. But the loss of basically two days' work is profoundly frustrating and disheartening. Reminds me of the military. But I have no intention of quitting. <br>"Adapt and overcome! Say it! ''''''M-A-R-I-N-E-S !'''''' Can you hear me? '''GOD IS GOOD!'''" <br>The more you oppose, the more we fight back.

−

−
I am reminded of a cartoon that shows the demon Mephistopheles in a computer store asking the clerk with a smile, "Do you have anything user-unfriendly?"

−

−
I cannot believe I am the only contributor who has experienced this kind of totally indifferent electronic opposition to developing something good. Since there is nothing evil in this project, and as far as I can tell—from the number of views of the completed parts of the project and the lack of any negative critical comments regarding it on this talk page—it has been positively received, I interpret this snag, and all of the other incidental obstructive interruptions that have plagued me with delays of completion the past nine months, as a sign that I'm doing something good that is being opposed for that very reason, otherwise the system would be supportive instead of oppositive, friendly rather than indifferently hostile. The enemy's resistance must be met with positive persistence and kindly, compassionate patience. Also, the Lord is providing me, by his permission of both passive and active circumstantial opposition and obstruction, opportunity to persist in doing good for the benefit of others, Galatians 6:9-10 and 2 Thessalonians 3:13. I was always taught that doing good glorifies God.

−

−
Anyway, I will do what I can, prudently, to finish this project.

−

−
I wish you all well. Pray for me.

== A word of advice ==

−

−

−
I want to advise anyone who wants to undertake the task of producing a [[Harmony of the Gospel]]s that it entails more effort than you could possibly anticipate or expect. While bringing this finished work at last to a definitive conclusion has been deeply satisfying, the ''experience'' of arranging and completing it in accordance with high scholastic and academic standards of accuracy and honest integrity, and conservative Christian belief, and rooting out and directly confronting illogical inconsistencies and glaring defects of outright dishonesty in doctrinal and historical interpretations, and highlighting liberal rejections of the truth of the inspired biblical revelation of God to man, has proven to be unpleasant, profoundly frustrating and exhausting work, beset by constant interruptions, even direct opposition from friends, colleagues and family. Be warned. A devout motivation to witness to Jesus Christ in defense of the truth of the Gospel and the Bible is highly commendable, but it is not enough. If you have not the stamina and mental and emotional stability to undertake this task to the almost certain exclusion of other things in your life, do not attempt it. You could permanently ruin your health. If on careful consideration you perceive that you have not the personal physical and mental resource or ability for such an endeavor, then leave the task to others, and pray that the Lord send more laborers into his field. You will have done your part for the advancement of the Gospel. Other than saying this, I can do no better than to point you to the following texts, and pray that God will be merciful to you. It does not matter if they are considered to be inspired or not, what they say is true.

== [[Nicolaitans]] and [[Eternal security (salvation)]] ==

−

−
Today after finishing feature ''Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)'' I created needed articles [[Nicolaitans]] and [[Once saved, always saved]]. After several reasonable exchanges and objections to a category tag [category:Heresies] on the talk page of "Once saved, always saved" I allowed removal of the category Heresies and also performed a "move" of the article to [[Eternal security (salvation)]]. The discussion hinged on whether the reader would perceive the category tag as a Conservapedia ''official'' declaration that the doctrine of unconditional eternal security of salvation is in fact a heresy! Of course, that is not the intent of such a tag. I had simply included it as a declaration of the historical fact (as I stated in the article) that "There are those who reject this doctrine as a [[heresy]]." One of the respondents on the talk page said that those who support the doctrine ought to be able to see in the article some form of clearly detailed explanation that a rejection of this doctrine is also called a heresy. Actually, the category tag is neutral, but those who read it did not receive it that way. The exchanges on the talk page are illuminating and entertaining as well as informative. In lieu of having the category:Heresies tag, I provided an additional section containing an extensive listing of external links discussing both sides of the controversy. This was apparently satisfactory. One of those who objected, and had repeatedly removed the tag, said that the problem was not the body of the article, but the presence of the tag "Heresies" which seemed to give the impression that the whole doctrine was being declared an heresy. There was surprisingly no parallel objection to "See also" including [[Presumption#Presumption (sin)|Presumption]] and [[Nicolaitans]]. I was amused to see that I am considered to have a "Catholic bias" simply because I am Catholic.

−

−
Reminds me of a conversation I once had with an Evangelical at school when I explained that Catholicism teaches and proclaims that salvation is solely by the grace of God through Jesus Christ alone and that we don't teach salvation by "works" alone, but works done in Christ come from God and are our necessary cooperation with the grace of the Holy Spirit. The Evangelical said that I "would ''say'' that" because I am a Catholic lying about the teaching of the Church and full of deceit. I assured him that I would not lie. He said "Of course you would, You're Catholic aren't you?" He said that he knew "perfectly well" what the Catholic Church teaches, and that no amount of lying on my part could deceive him.

−

−
Fortunately I don't meet many Protestants like that! I understood his point of view because I myself used to believe the same thing about Catholics.

−

−
One of my former Baptist friends, shortly after I converted to the Catholic Church, asked me how I could do that? I said, "Well, it's because as a good Baptist I read the Bible carefully, I know what it says, and I did a lot of historical research, and I converted because the Catholic Church turned out to be 'the most Biblical Church' I've found, and because some of the doctrines of the Baptist Church contradicted some of the things clearly spelled out in the Bible, such as 1 Peter 3:21 "baptism '''saves''' you now" and the literal Greek word ''trōgo'' "'''eateth''' my flesh" together with "This is my body" and we "partake of the divine nature" and that when we receive the cup we "share in the blood", according to the principle of [[sola scriptura]], it means that communion is not a symbol, and that's what the early Christians in the second century also believed." I read the passages to him, and he said, "But that's a Catholic Bible. You won't find any of that in the King James!" I showed it to him and pointed to the inside cover page where it said "King James Version". He said, "I still don't believe you!" and he walked away. I've not seen him since that day. I don't know where he is.

I had looked for a church that was not started by someone who had disobeyed those who were over him/her in the Lord (Hebrews 13:17) not started by someone who had departed from a church (1 John 2:18-19) and then taught a different gospel from the gospel they had been taught in the church they had left (Galatians 1:6-9) but one started by those who maintained that the Holy Spirit had remained "forever" with the church (John 14:16) and led the church into "all truth" (John 16:13) and that the church had authority established by God which we are obliged to obey (Romans 13:1-2) or be punished. When I then traced down the history of all the churches, the only ones that qualified were the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches. And when I found that a council of the Church declared that the Patriarch of Constantinople had the first place of dignity and authority "AFTER" the Bishop of Rome, meaning second only to the Pope, that decided me, and I screwed up my courage and went and asked for formal catechism in Catholic doctrine. I discovered that what I had been told by Non-Catholics about the Church's "false doctrines of idolatry and paganism" were not true, and had never been true, but corresponded to everything I could find in the Bible about the true Christian faith, I was convinced, that this was the most Biblical Church on the face of the earth. Jesus himself had had Judas who betrayed him. That did not invalidate his teaching and his Person. The Catholic Church has had betrayers as well, but that did not and does not change or invalidate the doctrine. So it simply meant that Jesus had kept his promise to be with us to the end of Time, to send the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth forever, that obedience to the legitimately ordained and consecrated heads of the Church is also obedience to God, and that all of the documents and official Catechisms of the Catholic Church are honest and true and in harmony with the Bible. And every time I was offended enough to think about leaving, I remembered the "proofs" I had originally found in the Bible itself, which testified in the plain and obvious literal sense of its words, that the Catholic Church is the one true Church of God, and that all who have been baptized are themselves already members, even if they don't know it, because they belong to '''Jesus Christ''' as members of his one Body, even if that unity is not visible. I have found nothing wrong with the actual official teaching of Catholicism, especially when I dug deeply to be sure one way or the other, and most especially when it constantly and unchangingly says that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ the only-begotten incarnate Son of God as a free and unmerited gift from God the Father by God the Holy Spirit. If it did not teach this, I would not be Catholic. This should be enough for now.

== Harmony of the Gospel Feature Completed - 1 November 2017 / Final Update 23 November 2017==

−

−

−
THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

−

−
From 29 September through 31 October I carefully reviewed and re-read the whole feature. A multitude of minor corrections with the addition of a few marginal notes has been done.

−

−

−
The following temporary note has been posted at the top of the Main article:

−
:<small>This entire feature has been extensively revised. '''Finished 31 October 2017.''' This note will be removed the 15th day of November 2017. </small>

−

−

−
The following note was posted at the foot of the Main Article and at the foot of the final chapters of the longer form and the shorter form of the text:

−

−
<small>Finished on the Vigil of the Solemnity of All Saints, 1 November 2017.</small>

−

−

−
The Main Article and all seven Sections of both forms of the Fifty-six Chapters of the Gospel Harmony text will remain locked until 15 November 2018.

−

−

−
Update:<br>After sitting down to simply enjoy reading the shorter form of the text, I discovered some remaining inadvertent defects that needed correction or minor improvement, usually overlooked spelling and typo errors, and in some places some needed clarification, so I did another review of the text. I have just completed ten days of careful proofreading and revision from the Main Article through the last chapter of the text, 1 - 10 November 2017. (The last Chapter Fifty-six took all night 23:15 through 07:50 this morning. no interruptions!) Some necessary marginal notes have been added to some of the chapters. Some existing portions of the text were moved and re-positioned to more strictly correspond with the historical chronological sequence of narrative material and statements of fact. I understand why some authors issue revised editions of their work, even after the initial final proofreading by editors and publishers. I intend to dedicate this feature as finally completed on the Solemnity of Christ the King, 26 November.

Final Update: 23 November 2017<br>I have just finished a proofreading review of all the material of this feature 10–23 November. A multitude of necessary but minor corrections have been done, some minor revisions of portions of the text, but more importantly some significant marginal notes have been added to some of the chapters. I am satisfied that this work has been brought to a finished form. My thanks to all who have been supportive of this effort. I will post a dedication note at the foot of the Main Article, and at the foot of the final chapters of both the longer form and the shorter form. I need to do no more. '''''Note:''''' I have just completed minor layout edits indenting quotations from the Old Testament within the text for the purpose of easier readability. These have not affected the text of this ''Harmony of the Gospel'' completed 23 November. After the first vandalism in 2016 I locked both the Main Article, and the Longer Form with commentary and notes, for the purpose of developing and bringing this feature to full completion as soon as possible free of harassing vandalisms. I will dedicate this work tomorrow and make no further changes. I intend to remove the Protect lock near the end of 2018, to allow comments and improvements from other contributors after they first have had opportunity for one year to fully review the text and the notes and commentary and all of the external links. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 07:17, 25 November 2017 (EST)

== Your manifold computer problems ==

−

−
I have, over the last several months, watched with dismay the large number of edits you have made, and, more importantly, the numerous and forceful ways you have complained, in your edit summaries, about computer misfortunes.

−

−
When I see this kind of behavior, I am tempted to think that the person is a "whiner" or a "drama queen".  A more likely explanation is that you are seriously accident-prone with computers, that your computer is unreliable, or that you don't have the necessary expertise to edit wikis effectively.

−

−
Remember, the internet in general, and the world of wikis in particular, is a complex and occasionally error-prone place.  Internet and wiki software has a lot of error-correcting mechanism built into it, but you need to be proactive.

−

−
I see from your contributions history a great number of complaints like

−
*07:22, 24 August 2017‎ (revision, proofreading - interrupted edit - edit screen not responding - will copy and save page and resume)

−
*07:30, 24 August 2017‎ (revision, proofreading - finished the previous edit which was interrupted when screen no longer responded)

−
:Your screen not responding, if I understand correctly what you describing, is generally a problem of your computer.  Perhaps you should do a full reboot before editing CP.  And, of course, save your work.

−
*11:30, 24 August 2017‎ (→‎Forty-two: it's really discouraging to have to re-do an edit 3 times because a glitch in the site erases it each time it's saved (not!) and then be upset enough to overlook part and have to come back a 4th time to finish - should have been 1 time!)

−
*14 edits on 28 September 2017‎ (→‎Fifty-three: incremental edits instead of Show preview to prevent major loss of edits due to return of multiple System interruptions and disruptive maintenance functions)

−
:You do know that, after a "show preview", you can continue editing, don't you?  The edit pane for the continuation is below the preview pane.  Of course, if there is a serious server glitch at that instant, it might be hard to recover.  In that case, if you don't want to submit your edit all over again, you ought to scrape your edit into a plain text editor on your computer before submitting.

−
:Server maintenance functions, if I understand you correctly, are there for your protection.  Don't complain about them.  They inconvenience all the rest of us too.

−
*11:01, 4 October 2017‎ (→‎Thirty-three: corr marginal note indentation, made minor revision of the same note - also wish to complain about constant interruptions by "Internal Service Error")

−
:Yes, the internet, like life itself, can be a tough place.  I see those errors all the time.  Quite frequently, which make me suspect that the Conservapedia server is overworked or not properly maintained.  (More maintenance functions?)

−
*18:02, 16 October 2017‎ (→‎Thirty-eight: another irritating oversight - links can't be checked from the edit page without losing the entire edit)

−
:Actually, I think they can.  This might or might not work with your browser.  Do a *right* click on the link and select "open in new tab".  Check it in that tab, then delete that tab and go back to your original tab.

−
*05:54, 9 October 2017‎ (Revision - continuous edit without recourse to "Show preview" to avoid loss of work - over period of three days subjected to multiple interruptions and delays - at times only able to edit for 2 minutes or less, but now copied and "Save page")

−
:What are you doing??  Editing CP shouldn't be that hard!!!  Write up your change in a plain text file on your computer, and then copy it into the article.  If that fails, do the edit again, using the same text file.

−
*08:38, 16 November 2017 (→‎Forty: I had resumed the edit that was lost and stepped away from the computer for a couple hours sleep, came back and the system had done a "restart" which deleted the added work I had done on this chapter - more reconstruction and resumed edit)

−
:'''WHAT??  YOU WENT TO SLEEP WITH AN OPEN EDIT WINDOW???'''

−
*Also, a comment in this talk page: "bit by bit series of edits reconstructing 13 hours' work lost Nov 29 [2016] because when I clicked "See preview" I got "Hmm--we can't reach this page" and this frustrated every attempt to return to the edit page".

−
:You should not risk 13 hours (or even 13 minutes!) of work on any one wiki operation.  Spend your 13 hours editing a plain text file on your computer, which should be vastly more reliable than the internet.

−

−
You should just make your edits from your saved text file.  (That's what I do.)  If ''anything'' appears to have gone wrong, exit from your browser, restart the browser, check what happened, and, if you are in any way not satisfied with what happened, fix it.  Repeat until everything worked.

−

−

−
:I appreciate your edit and evident effort to help my editing experience. See above again the response from another who has had the same "Infernal Service Error" and "Hmm-" problems. I have already learned to have recourse to some of the strategies you recommend, and no longer attempt to do a long massive edit. (I broke off an edit I was doing to view your message, but copied entire and saved the whole page, to get back to it.) I copy the whole edit page every time just before I click See preview. The same interferences still occur (including You have a new message) but there is no longer any loss of data.<br>Again, thanks for your edit. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 14:54, 22 November 2017 (EST)

−

−
:Just want to add that I placed this talk page on my Favorites list about a year ago. When I just now did a Back click to return to what I was editing, I got "Hmm - We can't reach this page". But it didn't really matter, since I clicked Favorites, got back here, and will go to the Search window here in Conservapedia to go directly to the page I was working on. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 15:05, 22 November 2017 (EST)

−

−
:The original reason I attempted single long edits of a massive amount of material on a single page over a period of hours in construction of ''Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)'' was to avoid producing a large number of small edits, as a courtesy to those who have the task of checking Recent changes. I have just recently gotten consistently satisfactory results using Ctrl + A (highlight all) and Ctrl + C (copy highlighted all) then clicking See preview or Save page. And if it doesn't happen, I can attempt "See" or "Save" again. And again. Even a fourth time, again. Until the problem disappears. If I had known this tip from the beginning, most of the problems I encountered with the internet and with internal glitches here would have been insignificant and easily dismissed as minor annoyances hardly worth mentioning, except to notify the site manager. It still remains that "its not the way it should be". But "they're working on it". And that's encouraging. Peace be with you. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 15:50, 22 November 2017 (EST) (Ctrl A, Ctrl C, Save page.)

== Bishop's office - appointment to discuss ''Harmony of the Gospel'' 12 December ==

−

−
As soon as I had finished the ''Harmony of the Gospel'', and just before dedicating it on the Solemnity of Christ the King, 26 November, I contacted the office of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese where I live and asked for an assessment of the finished text with the marginal notes to determine if from the Catholic doctrinal viewpoint there was in this feature any heresy. I explained that I was not looking for an [[imprimatur]] and [[nihil obstat]], since it was not intended to be a specifically Catholic production, but more [[ecumenical]], interdenominational and encyclopedic.

−

−
Yesterday I received a call from a Sister in the Pastoral Center of the Diocese asking me to return the call. When I did, she said the Bishop had asked her to contact me to come in to discuss with her the "document you sent the Bishop" (by which I understood her to mean the online link access to the text of ''Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)'' I had given the Bishop's secretary). I told her I am retired and that any time convenient for her was fine with me. So she offered Tuesday December 12 at 10:00 A.M.. I agreed.

:I had a very pleasant visit with the Sister. She had a printout of the Main Article. As far as they can tell, from looking it over, there is nothing wrong with this feature. I confirmed that I intended to let it remain in electronic form, without having it published as a book with pages and a cover. She said, "If it helps people understand the scriptures better, and take them to heart, then it's fulfilling its purpose, as it seems to be." We talked for about 45 minutes. She said she very much enjoyed meeting me and the discussion. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 13:29, 12 December 2017 (EST)

I have just spent the last 20 minutes trying to locate these messages here, up and down the page, and on my User page, even checking the Talk pages of the ''Harmony'' article and chapters, and I found nothing. It's possible that whoever left the messages decided to delete them, or, if they were vandalisms, someone else took care of them. I don't know. Doesn't really matter. Just mysterious.

−

−
On a slightly different matter, I believe the reason I was logged off so often when I was editing is because I had failed to click the "Keep me logged in" feature, and I had not completed my edits within an unspecified allotted time frame in the system (whatever amount of time that is). I was not aware of this limitation, if that's what it is. So for now, until I finish this current review to make sure there are no defects, and identify what needs improvement, I will leave myself "logged in".

::At  3:23pm a "troll" vandalized this talk page.  At 3:43pm, Andy reverted the change.  When in doubt, checking [http://www.conservapedia.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Dataclarifier&action=history the page's revision history] can often help you figure out what happened. I've had this happen too, but quickly figured out what happened by looking at the history. --[[User:DavidB4|<font color="ForestGreen">David B</font>]] ([[User talk:DavidB4|TALK]]) 23:07, 10 December 2017 (EST)

(I got an edit conflict from DavidB4 while I was typing this.  He's somewhat more concise than I am, to say the least.  But I'm putting this in anyway.  Fortunately, I use C-A and C-C to copy my stuff, so that nothing was lost.  :-)

−

−
It was a bit of vandalism (by "KINKY", at 20:23 Sunday) and reversion of same (by Aschlafly, at 20:43 Sunday, just after blocking him).  Your user page was also vandalized and reverted, though you don't get notifications of that unless you ask for them.

−

−
My user page and talk page also get vandalized frequently.  Vandals look for high-traffic pages.  You are a prolific contributor, so you get hit.  People then come by and clean it up.  It doesn't require any special authority to do this; I've even done it a number of times.  You could too, but, with the computer problems you're having (see below) I don't recommend it.

−

−
You can see all this by looking at the history of your user talk page (the page you are looking at now!)  Just click "View history" in the upper-right corner.  It doesn't need to be a mystery; you can always satisfy yourself that nothing was damaged.  The reversion of the change did not erase the notification that you got, because the system code doesn't know that the reversion was done correctly.  (It was.)

−

−
If you look at histories, nothing is ever hidden, so there is no cause for undue concern.  Even admins and people with delete authority can't damage things in a way that can't be seen in the audit trail.  Even "hide revision" acts can be seen.  Well, the only thing that can completely wipe out the audit trail is a reload of the database, which requires siteadmin powers.  This actually had to happen a few years ago, after a massive database failure.  It wasn't pretty.

−

−
Now, about your auto-logout problems:  It appears that your computer is setting some time limit for you.  Or perhaps it's your browser, or your ISP, or wi-fi connection or whatever.  (I hope you're not editing from public wi-fi.  That's extremely flaky and extremely dangerous in terms of viruses and spyware.)  You should not need to click on "keep me logged in".  I don't set that.  Closing a Conservapedia tab in my browser does not log me out (though it loses whatever editing I was doing on that tab.)  Shutting down the browser, or shutting down / suspending / hibernating the computer, logs me out.  All 3 of my computers have automatic suspend set for at least an hour.

−

−
If there is something about your computer or internet connection that sets some kind of automatic timeout, you should try to get that fixed.  Conservapedia does not enforce any such timeout.

−

−
In any case, you seem to be doing the right things in terms of saving your work.  You shouldn't spend more than 15 minutes on any one edit with an edit window open.

−

Good luck,

== Final entry: What happened ==

−

−
The past 6 days have been an unpleasant exercise in frustration. It was my intention to divide up the last Section page of the Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version) longer form Chapters 50-56 into shorter chapters for the sake of our readers, most of whom, being perfectly normal, healthy, intelligent people, do not have the extraordinary patience to sit down and read something for 3 and a half to 8 hours straight or longer, as I normally do, or do a continuous single edit for over 16 hours, as I have. The last few edits listed in my contributions page show that almost a week was spent editing continually (with very short naps!), in expectation that the restructuring of the existing material and segregation and shifting and editing of the marginal notes into their new positions within their relevant chapters could be done in a single massive edit, resulting in the seven original Chapters 50-56 divided into fourteen Chapters 50-56 and 57-63 ready to be divided from one Section into two—then I would copy and paste the new longer form Chapters 50-63 over the older shorter form page of Chapters 50-56 and once there carefully delete the notes and provide links each shorter form chapter to the associated longer form chapter—then I would create the new longer form page Chapters 57-63 and copy and paste those chapters from the body of the revised longer form text with notes, and then do the same procedure with the revised shorter form page, creating a new shorter form page Chapters 57-68 and copy and paste into it the revised chapters without notes. Afterward I would add to the indexes in the main article and the separate longer form index and the shorter form index links to the new longer and shorter form pages 57-63. The eight sections of the encyclopedic narrative of the Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version) would become nine sections, same material, without lost of text and marginal notes. That was the plan and that was what I was trying to do.

−

−
It became impossible; and to be frank, not very healthy—''in fact a big'' <big>FUBAR</big>, ''gentlemen'' (and I don't mean SNAFU)!

−

−
The procedure I adopted for restructuring was relatively simple, as you can see from the description of the strategy outlined above, and up to a week ago the procedure was perfectly easy: I clicked edit at the top of the entire page of the longer form Chapters 50 through 56; I did some editing, copied the whole seven-chapter page Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C then clicked See preview, and checked the immediate result; then I did some more editing, copied the page, and clicked preview to check it; and repeated the sequence until I was almost finished with the initial division of chapters and the segregating of the marginal notes to match them. My highlighting of a duplicated portion of a single marginal note near the bottom of the page, intending to delete only that part, unintentionally highlighted an entire portion down to the end of the page without my being aware of it when I 'backspaced' to delete the highlighted material, and I did not see my error until after I had clicked Save page, and viewed the result.

−

−
So I went to View history, clicked on the previous edit page before the accidental deletion, highlighted and copied Ctrl + C somewhat more from the bottom of the page what I needed, then went to the newly saved page with the missing segment, entered Edit and began to repair the deletion. After pasting it in Ctrl + V I began to work on refining the placement of the marginal notes, and found some minor grammatical defects in the text and in the notes that needed fixing and improvement. In the midst of this work, using the simple procedure of ''edit-highlight all-copy-Show preview-repeat'' outlined above, when I touched the cursor to the edit summary window the Save page function suddenly operated—''spontaneously, unexpectedly, when I was nowhere near ready to save it!''"

−

−
So I went to the View history and found that a '''m''' edit without an edit summary was last listed.

−

−
I went back to the top of the article page, clicked Edit, and resumed work on the major revision, following the same simple procedure ''edit-highlight-copy-show preview''. Whenever I needed a break I ended the editing session always with a whole-page highlight-copy-show preview.

−

−
As the hours of refinement and checking and improvements passed, the system responded slower and slower, to the point that a sentence of five words was printed letter-by-letter more and more slowly and took almost a full minute to display. This sentence would probably have taken almost a minute and a half to complete after being keyed. The response became alarmingly slow, and as I considered copying and saving the page the message was displayed that "Conservapedia is not responding". The cursor would not move in the edit field but only outside of it in the margins. I tried to highlight the whole page Ctrl + A as before, but nothing happened. There was no response from Save page. I thought it was fortunate that I had only several minutes before already made a whole page copy before the slow-down had come to a full stop. Then I clicked on my favorites and returned here to my talk page, no problem, and scrolled down to the links I have here to the Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version). I clicked the link to the page longer form Chapters 50-56, got to it, clicked on Edit, highlighted the whole page Ctrl + A and paste copy Ctrl + V to restore what I had completed before the edit page had frozen.

−

−
There was no change. Although I had earlier in the edit made a copy to See preview while working on the revision, it had not survived. I would have to reconstruct all over again the 18 hours work I had carefully put in on the revision.

−

−
Right now as I write this entry the time is 11:01 pm 2301 hours Iowa Time 23 April 2018. I began again the reconstruction of the revision I had already done and lost, this past Thursday 19 April. Again I followed the same procedure with no difficulty, and no slow-down, no freeze-up, making a copy and Show preview frequently, several hours at a stretch, getting a few hours sleep, the screen always coming back fresh where I left off when I turned it on and entered my pass word on the opening page. Whenever I simply entered something in the initial search window to enter the net, I was always able to click the second Tab X from the left at the top of the page and immediately be returned to the edit page as I had left it. There had been no problem this time round in pausing to use the head or galley me a sandwich.

−

−
Until this afternoon.

−

−
I returned from the head, found the screen off, as often happened if I did nothing with the cursor for more than 5 minutes, and it had never been a problem since Thursday the 18th. But when I clicked the mouse the screen did not come back on. I found out that my tower had turned off—''suddenly, unexpectedly, spontaneously''! I turned it on, waited for the system to come up again, the initial opening page appeared, I entered search for User talk:Dataclarifier, clicked it, looked for the saved Tab at top left, but there wasn't one. I scrolled down to my link here to click on page longer form page Chapters 50-56, clicked it, got there, clicked Edit, highlighted the whole page Ctrl + A and did a paste op for the copied 5 days of work Ctrl + V.

−

−
Nothing changed. I deleted several lines from the top of the page downward and again did a paste op Ctrl + V. Nothing happened. I backed out of the edit page. 5 days lost! Lack of sleep. Frustration. Fatigue. Disappointment. I do not know what happened.

−

−
The only speculative answer I have is connected with today's screen pop-up notification that my 15 days' free trial of real-time security protection had expired and for $25.00 a month fee I could upgrade to ongoing real-time security protection. All during this "free-trial" period I had had  frequent pop-up notices that "no threats were detected", but also the suddenly spontaneous Save page and the slow-down and the frustrating freeze of "Conservapedia is not responding" (a notice which briefly flashed on and off about five times in the last 24 hours since yesterday Sunday without a resulting freeze). A friend of my who really knows computers and does hardware and software repair suggested about a year ago that some companies' security "free-trial" probably have a single vandalism program built in to punish anyone who does not go ahead and upgrade. Can't say I wasn't warned, and "taken in". —If that is in fact what happened. I really don't know.

−

−
My 91 year old mother said, "It probably wasn't meant to be." That is, doing any more work on the feature to improve it. I assured her that I had only one more thing to do, and then would write a note of explanation on my talk page of what happened.

−

−
I will say that after my last edit this evening, (the "one more thing"), of recreating a valuable marginal note on the real meaning of Domitian's implicit boast that he himself is the ''genius'' of the emperor, a god, a marginal note which had been lost along with the rest of five days' attempt to divide the existing already basically satisfactory text of the Harmony of the Gospel, I do not intend to attempt any further work on it.

−

−
I will change the bottom note on each page of the Harmony designating today's date as the completion of the Original Conservapedia Edition: 24 April 2018 Tuesday the Fourth Week of Easter—developed by Michael Paul Heart and the editors of Conservapedia.

−

−
I have decided to retire from Conservapedia for the sake of my physical, emotional and mental health. Remember that I had planned of necessity to do so anyway as soon as I felt my work on the Harmony of the Gospel was completed. I don't need any more repeats of the experience of the past 5 days!

−

−
My family urges me to not remove the "Protected page" locks from the Harmony of the Gospel feature in November, due to the occurrence already of vandalism ''with'' the protected page locks in place, saying it would be a shame if all that work was lost. I answered that I am quite confident in the integrity of Andrew Schlafly and the staff of Stewards and Senior Administrators of Conservapedia whose names appear on this talk page, and their apparent approval of the quality of my contributions, to secure the preservation of whatever is good in my work here. And as long as the internet lasts the things I wrote here can be retrieved and restored.

My best wishes and heartfelt prayers to God for you all. ''Pax vobiscum''.

−
My friends, I have been shown infallibly over the past week in my dreams that the problems and stress I experienced in doing my final review and major revision of the Harmony of the Gospel were entirely due to my own fault, principally my desire to be dramatic with suddenly huge, major edits for the sake of "impressive contrast" (''before and after display''). It was necessary to make me stop. The work was by no means finished, and I have been given to understand in no uncertain terms that I must complete it. I have been shown how to proceed more reasonably. I have been told that I should be finished by May 20. Then I will retire. Thank you for your patience.<br>--[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 08:48, 29 April 2018 (EDT)

−
You may consider this a continuation of the section above, "Your manifold computer problems".

−

−
I continue to be dismayed by the things you have been doing.  First of all, this page, and the various other pages you have created, are '''NOT''' locked.  Only admins can lock a page, not assistants (like 1990'sguy, DavidB4, Northwest, or VargasMilan) or ordinary folks (like you and me).  Just putting a notice at the top does not make it locked, and it is dishonest to put up such a notice.  For some time, I have seen the notices that you have placed on your various pages to the effect that they are locked.  I have been tempted to remove those notices, just to make the point that the pages are not actually locked.  But now I see that you have removed those notices.  Except for the one at the top of this page, which I have just removed.

Also, you seem to have made many claims that your pages have been vandalized, and that the locks are necessary to stop that.  While this page (your personal talk page) has been vandalized a few times (this is true of most user talk pages), the vandalism has in each case been noticed, and repaired, within a few minutes.  Any member of CP, like you and I, can repair vandalism, and I have repaired vandalism many times.  Blocking the offender is another matter.  That takes an assistant (like the people I named above), or an admin, like Andy or Cons.

−

−
But you have also made many claims, in edit histories, that your work has been vandalized.  This is just not true.  To pick one example, your edit comment for the edit of 03:00, 13 December 2018, to [[Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version) shorter form Chapters 57-63]] says "... restored paragraph deleted by vandalism ..."  The edit history for that page shows 155 edits, '''every one of them by you'''.  Whatever "vandalism" took place, it was an editing slip-up on your part.  It is simply not possible to vandalize a page in a way that a savvy user can't detect.  It is true that changes can be "made invisible" ("vaped") by admins, and Cons does this frequently, but the act of doing so is always visible in the audit trail.  Only someone locking the database, which only "siteadmins" can do, could possibly allow stealth vandalism to get through, and I have my doubts about even that.

:Thanks, Sam, for your concern and reassurances re reversion of vandalisms of my postings and work here on Conservapedia. I remember getting on this page an "Account Promoted" note from Andy giving me Admin privileges, but now I don't find it. Shortly afterward I immediately posted the full page protection tags. According to the tutorial on page protection, I understood "complete" protection to be a lock. Put 'em together and you'll understand the relevance of my comments and postings re the matter. <br>I do believe you. I won't presume to argue the matter, I'm getting too old for this, and I've had a mild stroke, June 28, and a small brain hemorrhage July 4, last year (likely due to Lipitor prescription), from which I've almost fully recovered and according to my physician it will be December this year 2019 when recovery is expected to be complete. (I found the onscreen alert re your new message about two minutes after it was posted—you can see how long it has taken me to compose this reply.) As soon as I finish my final revision of ''Harmony of the Gospel'' longer form and shorter form chapters 57-63, sometime tonight, I will retire from active involvement with Conservapedia, as posted above, this page, per my original stated intention.

===Scribes (Bible)===

−
I next during my casual re-reading review looked for an article on the Scribes of the New Testament, either specifically limited to that subject, or more broadly treating of the history of scribal activity before, during and after the historical period represented in the Bible, in both Old and New Testaments. Not finding one, I created from a redaction of materials from three sources (included by link under "External links" on the article page) a new article '''[[Scribes (Bible)]]''', which I originally had planned to name "Scribes, Jewish (New Testament)". All I did was redact, combine, summarize and synthesize the materials I located online. I learned things I had never heard before. I submitted it a few hours ago, and notified Andy Schlafly of its completion. I had arranged the material, but I hardly believe I created it. I simply hope that it is a worthy addition to Conservapedia, and that it will be useful, even helpful to Bible students.

I assume you are referring to clinking a link in your work while in "show preview" mode, and then not being able to get back without losing what you were doing.  Here is a link to [[Epistles of Ignatius]], editing in Chrome.  If I left-click on the link to check that it is correct, I get a popup warning me that if I continue with that, I will lose my work.  (It doesn't say that in so many words, but you get the idea.)  Instead, right-click, and select "Open link in new tab".  Look at it in that tab, then dismiss the tab (click the "x"), and come back to your original tab.

−

I almost forgot, I also created [[Historical-grammatical method (Literal hermeneutic)]], and did the short article [[Praxis]] last week. May your own Christian praxis lead you closer to God and to deeper knowledge of his heart of love. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 03:46, 12 February 2020 (EST)

:::I would encourage you to read this page, [[Conservapedia:Administrator's Guide]], as well.  On a personal level, I admire the thoroughness with which you approach your work. If I raise a question on a talk page, I'm thinking more in terms of how readers view our work product and not so much of my own views and opinions. That essentially is the goal of good, effective and persuasive writing - the more an author can hide his own bias the better. === Bonsai trees and partial retirement (13 May 2020)===

−

−
At the bottom of [[User talk:Dataclarifier/Archive 01#Request|'''Request''']] Andy said, "I hope you don't retire anytime soon." I said I would still be around, even after planning on reducing my involvement with Conservapedia after Spring this year. <br> It occurred to me to get back to the possibility of developing a new hobby of growing [[Bonsai]] (I may do an article on it this winter). Growing and tending miniature trees in pots as works of art wouldn't require as much reading, which will be practical, since floating bloodclots appeared in my eyes this past November which cause a lot of blurring of vision and have made editing here gradually more and more problematic. Still, I will contribute what I can, but now plan to gradually take longer breaks between edits and contributions, and get away from the computer. <br> Beginning about the end of June or July, I'll confine my activities here at Conservapedia to weekends, at most Fridays through Mondays, and at home do yardwork, maintain "social distancing", and watch NCIS, the News, and my collection of DVDs and listen to audio books of the great classics of literature. <br> Relevant comments are always welcome. ''Peace be with you''. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 09:22, 13 May 2020 (EDT)

=== Wikignome72 Request of 24 October 2019 (13 May 2020) ===

−

−
At [[User talk:Dataclarifier/Archive 01#Article request|'''Article request''']] 24 October 2019, [[User talk:Wikignome72|Wikignome72]] asked me "''Could you please create an article entitled [[Faith and doctors]]?''" and I said that I'm still at work reviewing another major project. I can now reassure you that although I still might come up with something, it now may be July or August before I can get to it. I put it on my Development page in October and did some work on it from time to time in the months that followed. It's still there. Just be patient. If I can do anything to make a reasonable article out of the material you gave me and the sources I found online, I will. --[[User:Dataclarifier|Dataclarifier]] ([[User talk:Dataclarifier|talk]]) 14:22, 13 May 2020 (EDT)

== Final note on final move of material from talk page to Archive 6/24/2020 ==

−
At request of Dataclarifier I moved the above material from the Talk page to this Archive.

−

−
Final personal note, Dataclarifier some time ago mentioned on this talk page failing [[User talk:Dataclarifier/Archive 01#Eyesight|'''eyesight''']], and the coming need to retire from involvement with Conservapedia this spring. He wishes to emphasize that God granted his prayer to delay loss of sight until his work on the ''Harmony of the Gospel (Conservative Version)'' was completed. Eye surgery has been scheduled for July 8 next month.
