Madison Cawthorn

Political party Republican
Religion Christian

Madison Cawthorn is a rising Republican star currently running for United States House of Representatives from North Carolina's 11th congressional district in the 2020 elections to replace Mark Meadows, who resigned in May to become the White House Chief of Staff to President Trump.

Cawthorn was left partially paralyzed from the waist down after a deadly car accident in 2014.[1]

2020 U.S. House election in North Carolina's 11th district

After Rep. Mark Meadows resigned to become the White House Chief of Staff only to prove his ineptitude, several Republicans announced their candidacies to replace him, including Cawthorn as well as Lynda Bennett. After no one won a majority of the vote in the primary,[2] a runoff proceeded between Bennett, who finished first place with a plurality of 22.7% of the votes cast, and Cawthorn, who narrowly trailed her in second place. While the former received the endorsements of Donald Trump,[3][4] the Senate Conservatives Fund,[5] and Meadows himself,[6] Cawthorn won the runoff in a landslide upset.[3][4][7]

Cawthorn gave a speech at the 2020 Republican National Convention, where he ended by rising out of his wheelchair despite being paralyzed.[8] For this, he was attacked by racist[9] PBS hack Yamiche Alcindor.[10]

Cawthorn has been falsely attacked by his Democrat opponent Moe Davis, who spread a smear based on a tweet that was misconstrued.[11]

In late September 2020, Cawthorn wrote an op-ed on The Daily Wire denouncing the 2020 Leftwing insurrection.[12] His home was later vandalized in mid-October by far-leftists.[13] (See also: Left-wing violence in the Trump era)
