The Conjuring (2013) was a low-budget horror film that was spectacularly successful at the box office, having revenues more than ten times its costs, and also well-received by critics.
The movie concerns demonic possession of a home, and one of its premises is that the accused in the Salem Witch Trials really were witches.
Multiple spiritual references to good and evil are throughout the film, including an express reference to the Trinity.
The Conjuring is credited with reviving popularity of the horror film genre, including the surprisingly successful Smile (2022).[1]
