:The history of the LGBT movement tells you everything you need to know. It started out as [[Gay Pride]]. Many Lesbians identified as [[gay]], however there is a certain  element within the Lesbian group infected with [[misanthropy]] or [[misandry]]ism or whatever the word is and identify strictly a Lesbian. So when lesbians allied with gays, the [[patriarchy]] won out and deferred to women, [[chivalry|chivalrously]] putting ladies first in the Lesbian-Gay alliance. Bisexuals soon were added cause they, unlike some lesbians, did not hate and/or fear members of the opposite sex. When the "T" was added, it initially referred to transexuals, who at the time were largely crossdressers (transvestites) with a few undergoing "sex reassignment" surgery (the term used in the Hollywood blockbuster ''Silence of the Lambs'', where a person with [[gender dysphoria]] makes a convenient villain and scapegoat as a psychotic serial killer. I doubt such a transphobic movie could be made today with its vulgar stereotypes about gender confused people. Nevertheless the film remains popular as one of the scariest horrors films ever made). As [[Big Pharma]] started churning out more and more gender dysphoria victims in the lab, "transexual" was replaced with "transgender". By the 1960s gays "came out of the closet" and admitted that the word "gay"  was codeword dropped in casual conversation for nearly a hundred years to feel out a person if they were susceptible to [[homosexual]] advances (facilitated by the "intellectual", academic, and popular culture references to the book or film).
