Yogi Berra was an immensely popular catcher and then manager and later a broadcaster for the New York Yankees, who entertained the American public with his wit and positive outlook.

Berra won the MVP in 1951,[1] and nearly won it in other years. But he is best known for his pithy, inciteful quotations including:

“ It ain't over 'til its over. ”
“ No one goes there anymore. It's too crowded. ”

Eminently modest, Berra disclaimed credit for some of the wonderful quotations attributed to him.

Berra lived to 90 years old, and extraordinarly lifespan for someone who played the grueling position of catcher. In an ironic twist, he was unusually playing in the outfield when the historic home run sailed over the fence in the 9th inning of the thrilling game 7 of the Pittsburg Pirates upset win over the New York Yankees in the 1960 World Series.
