Revision as of 19:09, June 14, 2007
Use this page to note of articles that appear to have been copied from other sources, or that appear to have made use of large amounts (more than a paragraph) from other sources.
Because Conservapedia's policies on copying are not yet clear, and are not obvious to users, most of these entries will have been made in good faith by users who are trying to help Conservapedia.
If you can tell, put the material under the proper heading.
I don't think there's any rush to do anything in particular about these until it's clear what the policy is. Dpbsmith 14:01, 14 March 2007 (EDT)
Do not know which heading to put it under
Copied from a website that posts an explicit copyright notice
- Image:Image-SelfExam.jpg in Breast_Exam, from http://www.iparenting.com/resources/articles/cancerpregnancy.htm, which contains notice "© 1999-2004 iParenting, LLC Dpbsmith 12:41, 17 March 2007 (EDT). Deleted from article already, apparently, but image itself is still present. Dpbsmith 12:41, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
- Conservative, from http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ZWMxNWNiNDJkY2JmNTExY2E1MzdkYWU3MWU1MTBiOGU=, which contains notice "© National Review Online 2006-2007. All Rights Reserved." The entire What is a Conservative? section is from the National Review. --Liberalmedia 14:43, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- World Religions by Number of Followers, abridged and lightly edited from http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html , which says "Copyright © 2005 by Adherents.com."
- Zach Johnson The section of this article labeled “2007 Masters Tournament is largely copied form the Des Moines Register article on Johnson’s win at the Masters. The register article is here [1] and clearly contains the notice "Copyright © 2007, The Des Moines Register."
- Ralph Nader The section covering Unsafe at Any Speed has copied multiple sentences almost verbatim from this article at The New Republic [1]. Their copyright terms are posted here [2]. Note- If you follow the link, you will need to have a subscription to read the whole article, however if you access it via Google you can read the whole article.
Copied from a website that does not have any conspicuous copyright or licensing notice
- Rudy Guiliani Much of the article on was copied wholesale from his official biography (here [3] ). The offending material was added, as best I can tell, here [4] . The page containing the biography is not clear as to whether or not the material is copyrighted or public domain, but either way it should have been cited. I’ve gone ahead and cited the material, but I am reporting it here, per the request at Conservapedia:Articles for Deletion--Reginod 10:31, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
- Code of Unrighteous Acts About 90% of the article is copied verbatim from a copyrighted article of the same name at [5]. I have contacted the author who says that he has changed it "enough."

Copied from a website that uses a "free license" like GFDL or Creative Commons
- American Friends Service Commission, acknowledged as copied from http://www.afsc.org/about/default.htm (and linked pages). However, the AFSC material is licensed under cc-by-nc-nd, which only permits exact copying without alteration. This page should either be deleted or protected. My guess is that "no alteration" is unacceptable to Conservapedia and the page should be deleted. Dpbsmith 13:20, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
- Tarot, abridged from the Wikipedia article "Tarocchi," GFDL license, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarocchi
- Shark, abridged from Wikipedia, GFDL license, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shark
- Jehovah's Witnesses, material in this edit, acknowledged by User:BornAgainBrit on Talk:Jehovah's Witnesses who says "For now, I have copy-pasted some of the more interesting statements over from wikipedia. Its untidy to steal from the competition, I know, but the Wikipedia licence says its acceptable. We use the same one ourselves." Copied material now removed by User:dpbsmith pending discussion.
- Golden Rule, from Wikipedia, GFDL license, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethic_of_reciprocity
- War Elephants, portions are a verbatim lift from Wikipedia articles "War Elephants" and "Crushing by Elephant". No sources, no attributions, no working links.Tisdale.david 15:09, 14 June 2007 (EDT)David Tisdale
Copied from a source that is probably public domain
