The section you've added about her brother is almost half of the article, and would probably fit better in  the Rick Perry and/or G.W. Bush articles. It was the interaction between the men that's caused whatever stress there might be. The way the section in the article is written, Mrs. Perry doesn't appear to be involved at all, other than being a sister and wife. --SharonW 12:08, 30 September 2011 (EDT)

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe that articles about cities are titled just by the name of the city. You've created a bunch that are titled "City, State." −
::::It should be a case by case thing. Portland is also an historic port-city in Victoria, Australia. There is the famous Alexandria in Egypt. And so on. Click on Kingston - there are many many more towns and cities of that name around the world founded by Brits during the colonial era and named after their home town. I would mention the state unless you are sure it is unique. AlanE 18:45, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

:::::An example of what can happen. In March 2007 an edit to Archimedes mentioned the tyrant of Syracuse with a red link to Syracuse. In October 2007 an article was created for Syracuse New York, heading: Syracuse This enlivened the link in the Archimedes article to make it look (to the very ignorant) as if he lived in upstate New York. It's fixable but would not have happened if the American city had been headed "Syracuse N.Y." or similar. AlanE 19:37, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

Does Conservapedia not use disambiguation pages for such things? MattyD 21:57, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

−
: Yes it does. But Conservapedia is not particularly good at "paperwork". Everyone is focused on their own little realm. The person who wrote "Archimedes" didn't give a toss about the chance that someone would enliven the Sicilian Syracuse with the American one. There were editors who cared but one by one they disappeared or were rooted out by TK because they had possibly shown up across the road at you-know-where at some stage. There is one still editing - WesleyS (hi Wes!) - but he can't be everywhere. Look, let's talk on my talk page. AlanE 22:34, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

−
::Archimedes has his home back, and it's not in New York; try making good corrections to paperwork, and don't worry too much about someone else's "realm".  There's always something else to add to  :)  Karajou 23:08, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

−
:::Thank you for taking the time to fix this.  To me, we all owe a duty to our users/readers.  That should motivate us to leave our own comfort zones in order to build a better encyclopedia overall, rather than "realm" by "realm". Wschact 23:34, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

−
:::: Yes, thanks. Perhaps not so much "realms" as demesnes. Every time I have come across a failure in the "paperwork" I have either fixed it or tried to bring it to someone's attention. It hasn't always worked. If you were to guddle into my edits over the years you would come across my frustration. I have been banned for this, because I haven't always been "polite" in my frustration. AlanE 00:43, 26 September 2012 (EDT)

:This is a bit of an old question--I don't know if you've gotten your answer yet.  I don't know of any directions on CP, though other sites such as wikihow offer some.  In general, right-click on the image and select the option labeled something like "Save image as..." or "Save as..."  You may find this option labeled differently between different Internet browsers.  They you simply select a location on your computer to save the file, and click the "save" button.  In Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome, you may need to download it first, then find it in the bottom bar of your browser and move it to somewhere you can get at later.  Does this help? --<font color="ForestGreen">David B</font> <small>(TALK)</small> 10:17, 29 July 2016 (EDT)

I don't look at my user page much, and just saw your question.  DavidB4 told you how to download a photo from Conservapedia.  I suspect that you want to upload photos to Conservapedia. First, find a photo that you can share (perhaps following the instructions above) or the URL of the photo on flickr or Wikimedia Commons.  Then leave a message on Conservapedia:Image upload requests and DavidB4 will upload it for you and tell you the name of the file that he created. Hello,<br />

−
After some discussion (on my talk page and Andy's) it has been decided that I start an Internet Relay Chat channel for Conservapedia, since our old one has been dead since 2009.  It is now registered and somewhat set up.  I don't know if you use IRC or are interested in doing so, but anyone with block privileges on Conservapedia can also get block privileges on the new IRC channel.  Unfortunately, IRC accounts are deleted after 30 days of being unused, so unless you plan on using the IRC at least once a month, there is probably not much point in registering.  In any case, feel free to try it out--if you account gets deleted, we can always make another one later.  If you are interested, please let me know!<br />

The IRC channel is: #conservapedia @irc.accessIRC.net<br />

New Template
−

−
Hello. I'd just like to inform you that it would be greatly beneficial if you were to assist on working on the following newly created template;

−
Template:Bible Cities

−

−
This template was created less than a week ago, and is an attempt to record all the biblical cities of the Old and New Testaments. It would be helpful if you, and other fellow editors at Conservapedia, were to assist in creating articles describing these biblical cities. If you are willing to start making some of these pages, but are not exactly sure how to approach the task, I'd suggest looking at Rhegium or Beeroth, two very (very) recent pages created by myself (Shaaraim is another good example) to get a good understanding at how this thing should be done. If you're willing to go above and beyond, take a look at the page Amphipolis, perhaps the best biblical city page to date. Just to note, this request is optional and you may help out on your own volition.Korvex

Hi BHathorn, since I noticed that you use Template:Infobox officeholder quite often for page creations, I just want to inform you that a sub-template transcluded into the main one has been improved such that military information can now be added without any red template links popping up (unlike before). If you need any help, the sub-template source code is <span class="plainlinks">here</span>. —LiberaltearsMay Dataclarifier be well! 02:19, 13 June 2020 (EDT)

:Thanks, liberaltears, for the suggestion. Can you send me a template (or sub-template) that allows the listing of military service> Then I can use that as backup copy. BHathorn (talk) 09:46, 13 June 2020 (EDT)

::Alright, here's an example. So if an infobox officeholder template is set up as shown on the left, then the following on the right will appear:

−

−

−
<pre style="width:35em">

−
{{Infobox officeholder

−
|allegiance=United States

−
|rank=General

−
|branch=United States Army

−

−

−
|battles=Iraq War

−
|awards=Three Purple Hearts

−

−
</pre>

An important note: if any information for allegiance, rank, branch, and/or etc. is added in, then the military section automatically shows up. I hope this helps, BHathorn. —LiberaltearsMay Dataclarifier be well! 12:07, 13 June 2020 (EDT)

Hi again BHathorn, I'm glad you're familiar with adding military information in infobox officeholder templates, though I should've initially noted that it's only a section for the entire template and not an individual template. As I noticed in your recent page creation here, you used an infobox person template but also added an infobox officeholder template, using the latter only for adding military service information. For that situation and likewise future ones, I would recommend simply using only the infobox officeholder template. That way, all the information (military info included) can be included in one template without requiring a second one. Thanks! —LiberaltearsMay Dataclarifier be well! 23:23, 14 June 2020 (EDT)

Wording sentences in page creations
−

−
Hi BHathorn, I noticed in your page creations that the content in some/many of them are mostly copied from the references listed. For example, in here, much of the information was transferred from this external source. While you did re-word most of it, it's better to further re-structure the sentences to show that you can present the information in your own words; in addition, there's also the Conservapedia:Commandments prohibiting copying from other sources. Thank you! —LiberaltearsMay Dataclarifier be well! 23:52, 14 June 2020 (EDT)

Hi BHathorn, I've got great news! I've just added on to the infobox person template such that military information can be added into it without the need to use an additional infobox officeholder template for edits; for usage, the idea is the exact same as mentioned here previously (see here for example of implementation). Hi BHathorn, I've noticed for a while now that you have "Upload" abilities but haven't made any uploads yet. If you are not yet entirely familiar with how to do so, would it help if I provide a thorough step-by-step explanation on uploading files to CP? —LiberaltearsMay Dataclarifier's mother be all well! Tuesday, 15:51, 8 September 2020 (EDT)

−

−
:Yes, please send instructions, as I have no idea how to Upload. Thanks, BHathorn (talk)

−

−
::Alright then, here's the idea:

−

−
:#Find the image online (or your own work) that you want to upload, and make sure it's downloaded to your computer. (note: if you don't intend to keep the image on your computer that you want to upload to CP, only delete it after successfully uploading it)

−
:#If you have upload abilities, look the left sidebar on CP, as there should be a link somewhere below "Edit Console" that says "Upload file". Click on it, and you should be at the Special:Upload page. You can otherwise enter "Special:Upload" in the search bar and reach the page that way.

−
:#In the "Source file" section, click on "Browse" and double-click on the image you had just downloaded. Glance at the right side pop-up to make sure that it's the correct image you intend to upload. In addition, for "Destination filename" in the "File description" section, a filename should automatically pop up. If the title begins with any number followed by "px-", it's better to remove such, and it's also recommended to replace any appearing underscores with spaces. You can alter any part of the filename except for the ending, which must reflect on the type of image you had downloaded. This means that if the image is a ".jpg", the filename must end in ".jpg", etc.

−
:#The "Summary" section is technically optional when uploading, but still important to fill in. Depending on what reuse permissions are associated with the image you intend to upload, there are different templates you may need to choose from, including Template:USGovt tag for public domain, etc. It's important to categorize the images as well, especially with :Category:Images for every upload, along with other category links based on the topic; for example, if you upload a picture of a Louisiana state representative, you can add in :Category:Louisiana and :Category:State Representatives.

−
:#Ignore the final "Licensing" part in the "File description" section, as there's no other option than "None selected".

−
:#If you followed these steps alright, click on the "Upload file" button at the bottom of the page, and it should work successfully!

−

−
:::It's important to note also, that unless otherwise specified, any image you find online is under full copyright. Sometimes they will specify that you cannot republish it in the Terms of Service, other times they won't. I would suggest skimming through the ToS on the source site to see what they allow. If they don't list any additional restrictions, it might be acceptable to use the image under the "Fair Use" clause on US copyright law. It is often a grey area. If you are going to use an image under this condition, you need to specify in the summary box who actually owns the copyright, the URL source, and that you are using under "Fair Use." :Template:Fair use can help with this. If in doubt, assume you can't use it. This is a nuisance, but that's how the law works right now. --<font color="ForestGreen">DavidB4</font> (TALK) 16:54, 8 September 2020 (EDT)

Question about John Tower
−

−
Hi BHathorn, I'm just wondering, what do you know about John Tower's opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964? Was he like Goldwater who opposed it on libertarian grounds, or was he opposed to civil rights in general like the Southern segregationists were? This article seems to provide some details, though not much info on his positions for the landmark 1964 bill. There's also this, which I can't read without having an account for the site to log in to. What's interesting is that Tower opposed invoking cloture on the filibuster though also opposed some attempts to weaken the legislation, including the Gore amendment which "sought to take the teeth out of the Act". Even more interesting enough, Tower's liberal Democrat colleague Ralph Yarborough, who often is cited as pro-civil rights, voted for the Gore Amendment. —<code><span style="color:black; background:#FFABAB">LT</span></code>May D.C., his mother, and I.S. be all well! Monday, 20:45, 25 April 2021 (EDT)

−

−
:I couldn't find if Tower was ever a segregationist, but for his first two terms (1961-1973) he was very to reliably conservative. He backed his rival, LBJ, on the Vietnam War. Johnson once said that Tower had given him far more support for the war than had Johnson's own party. Then in his last two terms he became a part of the Moderate Republican establishment and supported abortion and opposed the Strategic Defense Initiative proposed by Reagan. He and Goldwater opposed the 1964 law on libertarian grounds, but the Libertarian Party was not born until 1972. Tower was nominated for defense secretary under GHWB but fell short, with a few Republicans opposed him. The post then went to Liz Cheney's father.BHathorn (talk) 21:26, 25 April 2021 (EDT)

−

−
::Interesting. And I'm also wondering, would you generally associate conservatism to opposing civil rights and liberalism to supporting such? Based on what you've written for the CP article on Tower and several other pages, that's kind of the impression I've gotten. —<code><span style="color:black; background:#FFABAB">LT</span></code>May D.C., his mother, and I.S. be all well! Monday, 21:35, 25 April 2021 (EDT)

−

−
:Quite a few segregationists were considered conservative, Harry Byrd, Strom Thurmond, among them. There were also liberal segregationists, J. William Fulbright, Al Gore, Sr., Lister Hill. There were some Republican segregationists, but the six Republicans, including Tower, Norris Cotton, Milward Simpson, and Bourke Hickenlooper, who voted against the 1964 law, were not segregationists. Simpson of WY had even signed a state civil rights act when he was governor.BHathorn (talk) 21:00, 26 April 2021 (EDT)

−

−
::We're planning an Anti-lynching law article, and we've found similar arguments.  Pat McCarran did not oppose it because he was a racist or segregationist. He opposed it cause the law targetted police who did not protect citizens from the "mob", meaning Chicago cops could be prosecuted for the Valentine's Day massacre while Al Capone got off scot-free, and the law would not stand up in SCOTUS. it was "cosmetic" legislation. RobSFree Kyle! 21:13, 26 April 2021 (EDT)

−

−
:Some segregationists thought Goldwater was one of them, but he was not a segregationist, having pushed for integration of the Arizona National Guard. He opposed the Civil Right Act of 1964, which put him at odds with most Republican leaders, who had long favored civil rights. He later expressed regret over his vote, as did John Tower. In time both moved to the left in their party. The Goldwater of the 1980s was far different from the Goldwater of the 1960s.BHathorn (talk) 07:30, 27 April 2021 (EDT)

If you're also familiar on Moderate Republicans from the time period similar to those like Kuchel, Javits, and Rockefeller, those would make great articles too.

::In addition (I should've specified this initially as well), I had also been thinking that there are some important Northern Democrat figures from the time period as well that could have some articles on, like James Murray, Warren Magnuson, Wayne Morse, and Joseph O'Mahoney. I read from a column by Ann Coulter that they opposed the 1957 Civil Rights Act, which very likely has to do with some amendment votes. —<code><span style="color:black; background:#FFABAB">LT</span></code>May D.C., his mother, and I.S. be all well! Saturday, 21:25, 7 May 2021 (EDT)

I am unsure if Rep. Waggonner renounced segregation. He ran a segregationist primary campaign in 1968 against an African American. He had virtually no opposition from 1970 until he retired in 1978. I think he just stopped talking about segregation once the civil rights agenda was in place. One who never renounced segregation was Jim Johnson, the Arkansas State Supreme Court judge who lost the 1966 gubernatorial election to Winthrop Rockefeller, who was certainly no segregationist. Hi BHathorn, I'm noticing here that you're likely trying to enlarge the image in the thumbnail to no avail. This is a problem I've encountered before, and it has to do with the fact that when putting files in thumbnails, the maximum possible size you can use is that of the original file specified on the respective file page. == About your edit here... ==

−

−
The two images in the infobox are meant to have the same height; since their aspect ratios are different, setting their side-by-side lengths to be the same results in an extraneous space. If you do want to alter the image sizes, please make sure the resulting top-to-bottom lengths are the same. Here's the simple formula that can be of great use here:

−
#Pick a particular length by pixel you want the height to be for both images (175px, 280px, etc.).

−
#For the left image, go to the respective file page and observe the aspect ratio; for whatever "??? × ???" value you get, divide the number on the left by the number on the right, and multiple that by the particular height in pixels you chose; set that as the size for the image.

−
#Repeat Step 2 with the right image.

−
#If you're satisfied with the image sizes, then publish! If not, repeat the process starting at Step 1 with a different pixel value for the set height.

−
When it comes to infoboxes like the one in the Ev and Charlie Show article, ensuring that the images used have the same height makes them look neat and professional for readers. Thanks!

So did Cramer become a Republican because he sympathized with the struggles of blacks in the South during the time period? Also, I furthermore noticed that you cited Cramer v. −
::Alright, both the Hugh Scott article and the template you created should be fixed now. So here's the thing: Template:Officeholder is different from Template:Infobox officeholder. In the former, adding individual sections for different offices/positions requires individual subtemplates. That's why CP has templates such as Template:Officeholder/senator, Template:Officeholder/representative, Template:Officeholder/governor, etc. Thus, Template:Officeholder functions differently than Template:Infobox officeholder in usage. And for certain political positions like Senate GOP leader, there most likely aren't corresponding "sub-templates" for such. There's also Template:Officeholder/misc, though it's basic and other potential sub-parameters (like |deputy= or |lieutenant=, etc. etc.) weren't put into the source code. Since I noticed that you created Republican Leader, I just copy/pasted the source code from Template:Officeholder/senator and adjusted the key parameters as needed.

−
::I also added a source code in Template:Officeholder/Senate Republican Leader that you can copy/paste in the future. Hi BHathorn, what do you know about the 1958 House race in Arkansas' 5th district between Brooks Hays and Dale Alford? I only read a little bit about Alford apparently utilizing Democrat election fraud tactics, but would you happen to understand the full details? == Perry W. Howard, II and Robert A. Taft ==

−

−
Hi BHathorn, when I was reading your excellent article on Wirt Yerger, I saw that you made a rather brief mention of Perry Wilbon Howard, II, for whom I started an article on yesterday. Now, I noticed in your Yerger article that you said Howard supported Robert A. Taft, Sr., for the GOP presidential nomination in 1952 over Eisenhower, and also had put in:

−

−

−
Now, was that quote actually by Sen. Taft or his son? When I looked it up, a number of sources say that the quote was actually by the latter. Also, is there any significant mention of Howard in your publication "Challenging the Status Quo: Rubel Lex Phillips and the Mississippi Republican Party (1963-1967)," and if so, perhaps you can add a few more additions/citations/copyedits as helpful to the Perry W. Howard, II article I started? == Can you help add content on candidates in the 2022 midterms? ==

−

−
Hi BHathorn, can you perhaps help create articles on candidates running in the 2022 midterm elections? For example, the election in Texas' 28th district seems like an interesting one. Henry Cuellar seems like a comparably less left-wing Democrat in the House, and is facing a primary challenger from progressive Jessica Cisneros (maybe you can help get an article on her going?), who's supported by the Sunrise Movement. According to Roll Call, the Republicans running for the seat include Sandra Whitten and Ed Cabrera. Due to the district's swing towards Republicans in 2020, it may be a tossup.

−

−
Also, there's the 2022 gubernatorial elections; if you can start pages for any one of them, that would be appreciated and I'll do my best to expand as helpful.

−

−
In addition, would you know if Alma Arredondo-Lynch might be mounting a primary challenge against Tony Gonzales in 2022? Arredondo-Lynch seems to be more anti-establishment than Gonzales, who the GOP establishment supported in 2020, if I recall correctly.

:Dentist Arredondo-Lynch has a spine of steel. I haven't read if she will mount a third primary challenge for District 23, my district. She endorsed Tony Gonzales in 2020 after she was eliminated from the race with a weak third place showing. He is much more moderate than she is. As for Cuellar, no longer my district representative, I believe he has voted with the party-line at least 99 percent of the time. I can't believe Conservapedia doesn't have an article about him yet; it would be awesome if you can one started. I got several other series to cover on Conservapedia, and since you're the main expert on Southern politics, I think it would be best if you create it and I'll add on as could be expanded. I'm fascinated in fully comprehending the shift from New Dealism in the 1930s to the new "conservative" order by the 50s which evidently was impacted by the changing nature of ideology and civil rights that hastened during the WWII years when, for example, labor unions became a beneficiary for civil rights causes and price controls began to alienate rural whites which comprised the old progressive/populist base in the South. —<code><span style="background:#FF8181">LT</span></code> (Matthew 26:52) Tuesday, 11:25, May 16, 2023 (EDT)

Those mentions usually just link to the Huey Long or Earl Long articles (I assume depending on the time period that the individual was active in politics), though possibly with new pages on "Longism" and "Anti-Longism," they can link to such articles instead. I read your Louisiana Republican Fraud Squad article. I learned some new things. I plan on engaging in some future endeavors with a resident of Louisiana which has caused me to pay more attention to various news items related to Louisiana. Some good things are happening in that state politically and I hope good things happen in that state in the future. Louisiana is starting to make progress in terms of it being more competitive than Mississippi and its population appears to be increasing at a faster clip than Mississippi. Both states could use a lot of improvement though. With that being said, all my past experiences with people from Louisiana has been very positive.
