The total immersion method of learning is learning by extreme saturation.[1] It often used when one wants to learn a skill or information in a short amount of time. The total immersion method can be used to learn any new information or skill.

An example of the total immersion method is to go to a foreign country and not speaking one's native language while intensely learning the new language.

Total immersion method of learning a new language

According to Cambridge Language Assessment: "There are numerous studies that show that students who are exposed to the language they’re learning in an immersive way, be it through a bilingual immersion programme at their school or a study-abroad experience, exhibit higher levels of fluency (e.g. Cummins 2009, Kinginger 2011, Wilkinson 1998), particularly when motivation to learn and absorb the language is high. The high motivation, in turn, is fostered by the desire to belong to or approximate the culture of the target language."[2]
